• Install Approvals module

Install Sequential Approval in Odoo

1. Activate developer mode
2. Go to Apps
3. Click on Update Apps List
4. Search and install Sequential Approval

Create Approver 1, Approver 2

1. In Odoo, go to Employees > Create Employee
2. Set the Employee's Full name
3. Go to the HR Settings and set the related user
4. Do the same step in creating Approver 2

Create Requester 1 Employee

1. In Odoo, go to Employees > Create Employee
2. Set the Employee's Full name
3. Set the Manager of this employee to the Approver 1.
4. Go in the HR Settings tab and set the related user

Create/Modify an Approval type to use sequential mode

1. In Odoo, go to Approvals > Configuration (in navigation menu) > Approval Types
2. Select the approval type you want to modify.
3. Check the Sequential Approval field
4. As you can see, some fields are hidden and there is list of Sequential Approvers below.
5. Add a Threshold amount to trigger the sequential approval and make the value increasing
   • If Amount field is set to required or optional, then the threshold amount will be checked to determine if the approver is applicable
6. Requester user is optional and you can set multiple requester that you want to observe.
7. Department is optional and you can set multiple department.
8. Approvers is also optional if the Include Manager field is checked. You can also set multiple approvers.
9. After all that, you can click save to save your desired configuration.

Create an Approval Request (1 approver only)

1. In Odoo, go to Approvals > Then click New Request in the Approval Type where you modify the configuration to sequential approval
2. Set the Approval Subject, Request Owner to the user that you set in the requester in Sequential Approvers (In this case, Requester 1), Amount (In this case any amount from 100 to 499
3. Click save then submit to submit the request.
4. You will notice that the Approver 1 (because you checked include manager) will be automatically added
   • Approver 2 was not added because the amount did not reach the threshold of 500

Create an Approval Request (2 approvers)

1. Do the previous step, but this time, try to input 500 in the Amount field.
2. You will notice that the approvers which are Approver 1 and Approver 2 will be automatically added.
