Odoo's Project app treats every project as a flat, standalone record. Teams running multi-phase programs — a building split into foundation, structure, and fit-out, or a client account split into workstreams — have no way to link related projects, no rolled-up view of progress or budget across the group, and no clarity on which settings a sub-project inherits versus overrides.
Project Sub-Project & Program Management adds a first-class parent/child hierarchy directly onto your existing projects, with configurable depth limits, automatic rollups of tasks, hours, and budget at every node, one-click revert/cascade for inherited settings, and a rolled-up access map — all inside the standard Project app you already use.

Multi-Level Project Hierarchy
Link any project to a Parent Program to build a true parent-child hierarchy, with cycle prevention and a computed depth on every node.
Configurable Depth Limit
An admin-configurable maximum hierarchy depth (default 5 levels) is enforced automatically, keeping programs navigable instead of runaway.
Program-Level Rollups
Task counts, completion percentage, allocated/effective/remaining hours, and budget aggregate automatically across the whole subtree at any node.
Inherited vs Overridden Clarity
Visual badges show whether a sub-project's manager and deadline are inherited from its parent or overridden locally — no more guessing.
One-Click Revert & Cascade
"Revert to Parent Settings" and "Apply to Sub-Projects" buttons instantly sync manager and deadline up or down the hierarchy.
Program Hierarchy List
A dedicated top-level list of programs with rollup columns for task count, completion, hours, and budget, sortable and filterable.
Sub-Projects Tab
Manage and reorder direct sub-projects from the parent form, with a drag handle and inline manager, stage, date, and rollup columns.
Access Map
A rolled-up "who can access what" member list shows every manager and follower across an entire program subtree in one tab.
Budget Tracking & Rollup
Record a management budget estimate per project and watch it sum automatically across the whole program, restricted to managers.

Build the hierarchy
Set a Parent Program on any project, or create new sub-projects directly, to link related projects into a program tree.
Track rollups automatically
Task counts, completion, hours, and budget roll up in real time from every sub-project to its parent and the program root.
Spot inherited vs overridden
Inheritance badges flag whether a sub-project's manager and deadline follow the parent or were changed locally, with one-click revert or cascade.
Review the whole program
Open the Program Hierarchy list or the Access Map tab to see structure, progress, budget, and who has access at a glance.

The Program Hierarchy list surfaces every top-level program with rolled-up task counts, completion percentage, allocated hours, and budget in one sortable view.
Each program root shows four stat buttons — Sub-Projects, Program Progress, Program Hours, and Program Budget — plus the Program Hierarchy group with depth and ordering.
Inheritance badges make it obvious when a sub-project's manager or deadline has been overridden, with one click to revert to the parent's settings or cascade this node's settings down.
The Sub-Projects tab lists every direct child project with drag-to-reorder sequencing, manager, stage, and its own rollup completion, hours, and budget.
The Access Map tab rolls up every manager and follower across the whole program subtree, answering who can see or edit this program at a glance.
Admins configure the Maximum Hierarchy Depth guardrail in Settings, preventing hierarchies from growing too deep to navigate.
Frequently asked
How many levels of hierarchy can I create?
As many as you configure. A depth-limit guardrail defaults to 5 levels and is adjustable in Settings, preventing runaway, unnavigable structures.
Does this module replace Odoo's native Project app?
No. It extends the existing Project model in place, so every native Project feature, view, and permission continues to work unchanged.
What happens to a program's rollup numbers if a sub-project changes?
Rollups recompute automatically. Task counts, completion, hours, and budget update up the chain whenever any descendant project or task changes.
Can I move sub-projects between programs?
Yes. Just change a project's Parent Program field; built-in cycle prevention stops you from creating an invalid or self-referential hierarchy.
