Auto Process Manufacturing Orders

Confirming a Manufacturing Order, checking availability, setting the produced quantity, ticking every component as picked and finally marking it done is the same sequence of clicks, every single time. This module turns that whole sequence into one button and one choice. Pick Available Quantity to complete an order only when every component is genuinely in stock, or Forcefully Done to close it regardless of shortages. Select several orders and process the whole batch at once.

Features

Everything a production team needs to stop repeating the same clicks

Nothing about how a Manufacturing Order is built changes. This module only speeds up what happens after it is ready to move.

One Click, Start To Finish
Confirmation, availability, produced quantity, component consumption and closing the order all run in the same action, in the correct order, every time.
Two Process Modes
Available Quantity only closes an order when every component is truly on hand. Forcefully Done closes it anyway, for a backlog that needs clearing or consumption reported after the fact.
Draft Only Safeguard
An order that is already confirmed, in progress or closed is refused outright, and the message names the exact order that stopped the batch. Nothing already underway is ever touched.
Process Many Orders Together
Select as many draft orders as needed and run the same choice across the whole batch in a single action, instead of opening each one in turn.
Automatic Lot Assignment
A finished product or component that tracks by lot is given a lot number automatically, using the same numbering the manual screen would offer, with no extra step.
Bulk Serial Numbering
Producing more than one unit of a serial tracked item generates a complete, individual set of serial numbers on its own, without ever opening the interactive numbering screen.
Work Orders Finished Too
Any work order tied to the Manufacturing Order is carried through and marked finished as part of the same click, so a routed product closes cleanly as well.
The Standard Engine Underneath
Every step runs through the same confirmation, reservation, production and posting logic a person would trigger by hand. An order closed this way looks exactly like one closed the ordinary way.
Nothing To Configure
There is no setup screen, no threshold to tune and no new permission group to grant. Install it, and the choice appears on the order right away.

Quick Start

From a draft order to a closed one

Nothing changes about how a Manufacturing Order is created. The choice appears once it exists.

1
Build the order as usual: nothing changes about creating a Manufacturing Order, picking its product, its quantity or its bill of material.
2
Open Auto Process Order: from the Actions menu on one order, or on a selection of several, in either the list or the form view.
3
Choose the mode: Available Quantity if the order should only close when everything needed is truly in stock, or Forcefully Done to close it regardless.
4
The order moves on its own: confirmed, reserved, produced and marked done in one pass, or left exactly where it was if Available Quantity found a genuine shortage.
5
Everything downstream already reflects it: stock moves, lot and serial numbers, and the ordinary manufacturing reports all show the result immediately.

Two Modes

One choice, two very different outcomes

Both modes run the same underlying steps. What differs is how each one treats a component that is not actually on the shelf.

Mode What It Checks On A Shortage Best For
Available Quantity Reserves stock first, then confirms only that every component is genuinely available before producing. The order is left confirmed, not closed. Nothing is forced through. Day to day processing where stock accuracy matters.
Forcefully Done Sets the full produced quantity regardless of what stock shows for the components. The order still closes. Consumption is recorded even where a component ran short. Clearing a backlog, or recording consumption reported after production already happened.
Why the draft only rule matters

Batch actions are only safe when they cannot silently change something a person is already working on. An order that has moved past Draft is excluded before anything runs, and the rejection names it directly, so a large selection never risks overwriting progress on a single order buried inside it.

Every screen, every outcome

Real screens from a live warehouse: a fully stocked order closing in one click, a short one closing anyway under Forcefully Done, the draft only guard stopping a confirmed order, automatic lot and serial numbers, and the reports that show the result.

1
A live view of every order, at every stage
Draft, Confirmed and Done orders sit side by side. Nothing about the standard Manufacturing Orders screen is replaced or hidden.
Manufacturing Orders (kanban view)
Manufacturing Orders kanban view showing draft, confirmed and done orders
Every state is visible at a glance, before anything is auto processed.
2
A draft order, ready to go
Both components already show as available. This is exactly the kind of order that should close in one click, with no risk involved.
Manufacturing Order (draft, fully stocked)
Draft manufacturing order with both components available
Steel Screws and Aluminium Bracket both show Available before anything is touched.
3
One button opens the choice
Auto Process Order, from the Actions menu, opens a short wizard asking only which of the two modes to use.
Manufacturing Order (Actions menu, opened)
Auto Process Order wizard with Available Quantity selected
Available Quantity is selected by default, ready to confirm with a single further click.
4
Fully consumed, fully closed
The order moves straight from Draft to Done. Produced and consumed quantities match the plan exactly.
Manufacturing Order (Done)
Manufacturing order closed with quantities fully consumed
Five of five produced, both components fully consumed, chatter recording the Draft to Done change.
5
Every movement, traced automatically
The finished product moving into stock, and each component moving out to production, all recorded the same way a manual close would record them.
Manufacturing Order -> Product Moves
Inventory moves report for the completed manufacturing order
The full trail, produced good in and both components out, right on the standard moves report.
6
A draft order that is genuinely short
One component is clearly Not Available. This is exactly where Available Quantity and Forcefully Done start to behave differently.
Manufacturing Order (draft, understocked)
Draft manufacturing order with a component marked not available
A larger order on the same product, this time asking for more of a component than is on the shelf.
7
Choosing to close it anyway
The same wizard, this time with Forcefully Done picked instead, for a case that needs to close regardless of the shortage.
Auto Process Order (Forcefully Done selected)
Auto Process Order wizard with Forcefully Done selected
The same two options every time, so the choice is always deliberate, never a default nobody noticed.
8
Closed despite the shortage, and it shows
The order still reaches Done. The consumed figure for the short component is pushed through in full, with a Details link straight to the underlying movement.
Manufacturing Order (Done, forced)
Manufacturing order forced to done with a component consumed beyond available stock
A hundred and sixty units consumed against a shelf that only held sixty, plainly visible rather than hidden.
9
The draft only guard, in action
Trying to auto process an order that has already been confirmed is refused, by name, before anything happens to it.
Manufacturing Order (confirmed) -> Auto Process Order
Invalid operation message naming the confirmed order that blocked auto processing
The message names the order directly, so it is obvious which one needs attention, and the order itself is left completely untouched.
10
A lot number, assigned without being asked
A lot tracked finished product gets its lot number the moment it closes, using the same numbering the manual screen would have offered.
Manufacturing Order (lot tracked, Done)
Lot tracked manufacturing order closed with a lot number assigned automatically
A lot number is already sitting on the order, no separate numbering step was needed.
11
Serial tracked, closed the same way
Four units of a serial tracked product, closed in the same single click as any other order, no extra screen along the way.
Manufacturing Order (serial tracked, Done)
Serial tracked manufacturing order closed with a serial numbers smart button showing a count of four
A Serial Numbers button now shows a count of four, right where any other manufacturing order would show it.
12
Four units, four serial numbers, on their own
Opening that button shows exactly what was generated: a complete, individual serial number for every unit produced.
Manufacturing Order -> Serial Numbers
List of four individual serial numbers generated for the manufacturing order
Four distinct numbers for four distinct units, generated without ever opening the interactive numbering screen.
13
The whole batch, summarized in one table
The standard pivot view on Manufacturing Orders, grouped by status, shows exactly how much of a batch closed and how much is still waiting, with no separate report to build.
Manufacturing Orders (pivot view, grouped by status)
Pivot report of manufacturing orders grouped by status showing quantities done and confirmed
Seven orders closed, one still waiting on purpose, the whole batch summarized in a single table.

What Keeps It Safe

Fast does not mean careless

Draft Only, Checked First
The whole selection is checked before anything runs. One order out of place stops the entire batch, with the offending order named in the message.
Same Access Rights As Manufacturing
Nothing new to grant. Anyone who can already work with Manufacturing Orders can use this, and no one else.
Every Change Still Logged
A state change made through the wizard is recorded on the order's own history the same way a manual change would be, so what happened and when is never in question.
If One Order Fails, Others Still Finish
A problem on a single order inside a large batch is reported by name at the end, it does not stop the rest of the batch from completing.
Never A Silent Shortage
Forcefully Done closes an order through a genuine shortage, but the quantities on the order still show exactly what happened. Nothing is hidden after the fact.
Ordinary Data, Ordinary Reports
An order closed this way is indistinguishable from one closed by hand in every report, every filter and every downstream screen.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Does this skip any of Odoo's own manufacturing checks?
No. Every step runs through the same confirmation, reservation, production and posting logic that the standard screens use. This module only chains those steps together and makes the choice between the two modes explicit.
What is the real difference between the two modes?
Available Quantity only closes an order once every component is genuinely on hand, leaving it confirmed rather than done otherwise. Forcefully Done sets the produced quantity and closes the order regardless of what stock shows for its components.
What happens if my selection includes an order that is not a draft?
The whole action is refused, and the message names the specific order that is not in draft. Nothing in the selection is processed, so a mixed selection never partially runs.
Does it work with lot and serial tracked products?
Yes. A lot tracked item receives its lot number automatically, and a serial tracked item receives one full set of individual serial numbers, one per unit produced, without opening the interactive numbering screen.
Can several orders be processed together?
Yes. Select as many draft orders as needed from the list view and open Auto Process Order once, the same choice of mode then applies to the entire selection.

Platform & Safety

Built for Odoo 19, and built to stay out of the way

Standard Engine, No Shortcuts
Never reimplements manufacturing logic of its own. Every quantity, reservation and posting decision is made by Odoo's own manufacturing engine, exactly as if triggered by hand.
Zero External Dependencies
No third party library anywhere in the process. The wizard, the two modes and the batch handling all run on Odoo's own toolkit alone, fewer moving parts to break on an upgrade.
Native Odoo 19
Built against the current Odoo 19 manufacturing and inventory model, not a backport, and installs clean on a stock Odoo 19 database with the Manufacturing app configured.
