Odoo 17 / 18 / 19 · Fashion & Apparel

An editorial shop for Odoo

A storefront theme for clothing and accessory brands. Portrait product crops, cards without chrome, quick add on hover, and a sticky buy panel — built on Ant Design's control system, dressed for retail.

Ant Fashion storefront

Why a fashion shop needs its own theme

Most Odoo themes are recolours. They change the blue and leave the layout, which is why clothing shops built on them look like software with photographs in it.

Fashion does not sell through information density. It sells through image, whitespace and restraint. So this theme changes what actually matters on a clothing catalogue: the crop, the chrome, the type, and where the emphasis sits.

Portrait product grid

Portrait crops, no borders, no shadows — the photograph is the product

Four decisions you can see

01 · Portrait crops
Product images render at 3:4. A square crop cuts a dress off at the hem, which is the most common reason a generic theme looks wrong on a clothing shop. The ratio is a setting, not a rewrite.
02 · Ink, not blue
The primary action is solid near-black. On a page of photography a saturated blue button is the loudest object on screen, which is exactly wrong.
03 · Cards without chrome
No border, no background, no resting shadow. Name and price sit at the same weight, because emphasising price is a discount shop's move.
Quick add on hover

04 · Quick add appears on hover, so nothing covers the garment at rest

Filter rail

Filters recede to hairlines and small caps, so products stay the loudest thing

A homepage on the day you install it

A fresh Odoo homepage is an empty div. This theme ships a laid-out one — hero, highlights, the edit, new arrivals, atelier band — and every section reads from your catalogue rather than a bundled photo set. Publish a product and it appears; add a category and the edit fills in.

That also means the theme ships no stock photography. Nothing here is licensed from someone else, and your shop never looks like the demo.

Editorial HeroTypographic, no image required
HighlightsShipping, returns, payment, support
The EditReads product.public.category
New InReads your published products
Atelier BandStory block with an image slot

All five are in the website builder's snippet panel, so you can rearrange, duplicate or drop them on any page.

The product page, not just the grid

A theme that stops at the shop grid falls apart at the point of sale.

Product page

Large gallery, size chips, colour swatches, and a buy panel that stays in view

Mobile storefront

Mobile-first — the same tokens, no separate stylesheet

Contrast, measured

The greys an editorial theme reaches for instinctively are too light to read. Every text colour was measured against its own background and moved until it cleared WCAG AA — including the 11px small-caps labels, which are the smallest type on the page and the easiest to get wrong.

Community & EnterpriseBoth
Odoo.shYes
Odoo Online (SaaS)Yes — the module contains no Python logic
Dependencieswebsite_sale only
External servicesNone. No CDN, no API calls, no tracking, no bundled third-party code.
UpgradesOne template hook and one style block. Odoo's own templates keep rendering every page.

Installing is two steps, not one

This is a theme, so Odoo does not apply it the moment it is installed — you choose it, the same way you would choose any Odoo theme. Skipping the second step is why a theme can look like it did nothing.
1Copy ant_fashion_theme into your addons path
2Apps → Update Apps List, search Ant Fashion, Install
3Website → Configuration → Website → Theme → choose Ant Fashion
4Optional: turn on the grid's Add to Cart button in the Shop page editor

Step 3 is what installs the storefront styling and drops the homepage into place. Until then Odoo keeps serving its own theme.

Rebranding. Settings → Technical → System Parameters. Read at render time — no recompilation, no restart.

ant_fashion.inkPrimary ink. Default #1a1a1a.
ant_fashion.paperSecondary surface. Default #faf9f7.
ant_fashion.product_ratio3 / 4 for apparel, 1 / 1 for accessories, 4 / 5 for the crop most brands already shoot.
ant_fashion.category_imageshide (default) or show.
ant_fashion.color_modeauto, light or dark.
ant_fashion.logo_invert_dark0 (default) or 1, dark mode only.

What it will not do

Fix your photographyThe theme crops to one consistent ratio. It cannot make mixed backgrounds look like a single catalogue — that is still a photographer's job.
Restyle custom snippetsWebsite builder blocks with colours you chose by hand are left alone, deliberately.
Add featuresThis is a styling layer. No wishlist, no size guide, no new models — and therefore nothing to migrate.
Give you a dark logoOdoo stores one logo. There is a switch to invert it if yours is a monochrome wordmark.

Ant Fashion - Editorial eCommerce Theme

A storefront theme for clothing, apparel and accessory shops running Odoo eCommerce.

It is built on the Ant Design system - the same control scale, focus states and motion curves - but the layout language is editorial rather than enterprise. Product cards lose their borders, shadows and backgrounds and become photographs with a caption; corners are squared; the type scale is larger with wide-tracked small-caps labels; and the primary action is solid ink rather than a saturated blue.

Scope

  • Shop grid: portrait product cards, hover quick-add, ribbons, pagination
  • Filter rail: categories, size, colour swatches, price range
  • Product page: large gallery, sticky buy panel, size chips, colour swatches
  • Cart and checkout: line table, totals, selection states
  • Header, footer, dropdowns, breadcrumbs and the shared controls

Installation

This is a theme. Odoo does not apply a theme when it is installed - you choose it, the same way you would choose any Odoo theme. Missing the third step is why a theme can look as though it did nothing.

  1. Copy ant_fashion_theme into your addons path.
  2. Apps -> Update Apps List, search Ant Fashion, Install.
  3. Website -> Configuration -> Website -> Theme -> choose Ant Fashion.
  4. Optional: enable the grid's Add to Cart button (Website -> Shop page editor).

Step 3 installs the storefront styling and drops the homepage into place.

Configuration

Four optional system parameters (Settings -> Technical -> System Parameters):

Key Meaning
ant_fashion.ink Primary ink. Default #1a1a1a.
ant_fashion.paper Secondary surface. Default #faf9f7.
ant_fashion.product_ratio Image crop. Default 3 / 4.
ant_fashion.color_mode auto, light or dark.
ant_fashion.category_images hide (default) or show.
ant_fashion.logo_invert_dark 0 (default) or 1, dark mode only.

They are read when a page renders, so a change takes effect on reload. No recompilation, no server restart.

category_images decides whether Odoo's category pills keep their thumbnail. The default hides it, because a fashion category nav is normally plain type - but a shop with commissioned category photography can switch it back on.

The image ratio is the one worth thinking about: 3 / 4 suits apparel, 1 / 1 suits accessories and jewellery, 4 / 5 matches the crop most brands already shoot for social.

Technical notes

  • No Python logic, which is why it installs on Odoo Online (SaaS).
  • One template hook (#wrapwrap) and one <style> block in <head>.
  • No external requests, no bundled third-party code, no tracking.
  • Uninstalling removes every trace.

Known limitations

  • Website builder snippets that hardcode their own colours are left alone, by design - those colours were chosen by the merchant.
  • Product photography still has to be good. The theme crops to a consistent ratio; it cannot make mixed backgrounds look like one catalogue.
  • Odoo stores a single logo, so dark mode shows the same file. There is an opt-in switch to invert it, which suits a monochrome wordmark and ruins a colour logo - hence opt-in.
  • Each Odoo series is a separate listing. This one is built and tested on the series named in its version number.
