Disable Followers

Better management of your document followers.

The Disable Followers module, developed by Blue Stingray, allows you to control the default following rules for models in Odoo. In this way, you can ensure that follower notifications are sent only to the relevant personnel and don’t present unnecessary distractions to employees that should not receive notifications.

Features

Disable Individual Models

With this module you have control to manually disable each individual model if needed. For example, if you only want to disable followers on Sales Order but continue having followers on other Odoo models you can easily do so. In addition, you can disable all of the models and only open followers for specific ones.

Bulk Actions

The same way you have the ability to disable individual models, you can also perform bulk operations:

  • Bulk Disable Follow
  • Bulk Enable Follow
  • Bulk Remove Existing Followers

Technical and Functional Support

Installation and Configuration

1. Copy the files to your addons folder.

This step will depend on how your installation is configured, but essentially, once the new module is downloaded, you will need to move it into an addons folder on your server. If you are unsure which folder is reserved for add-ons, you can find that information on your Odoo configuration file

You can place these files on your server multiple different ways. We recommend either SCP/SSH or FTP.

2. Restart your Odoo instance.

Whenever new applications are installed, Odoo will need to be restarted. We highly recommend that you do not do this during your standard hours of operations or in a production environment. There is always a possibility of module conflict, so take precautions to reduce the amount of time your system is unavailable to your users.

You can use the same method that you normally use when restarting Odoo. Typical commands we have encountered are:

# Using a service script on Linux
sudo service odoo-server restart

# Using Docker and Docker-Compose
docker-compose restart

3. Install The Module.

Once you have restarted your instance, navigate to the Apps screen within your Odoo instance and install the Disable Followers module. This will open up all of the features for you to access.

That's it! Start using the new features!
