Generic Resource
The module provides the ability to create and categorize various resources, that can be used in other Odoo modules.
In our point of view, the resource - it is anything that could be identified. For example, in average company following things could be resources:
- Computer
- Table
- Printer
- Equipment (like CNC Machine)
- Apartment
- Etc
This module provides only base functionality for resource, but other modules have to extend it and implement different resource types. Resource Types is responsible for specifying what model in Odoo implements certain kind of resource. It is obvious, that computer and Table have completely different properties, thus it does not have sense to store all of them in same model, instead we encourage to create separate model for each resource type. This way it is possible to easily implement logic specific to that kind of resource. For example, in Yodoo Cockpit, we have implemented resource types like Odoo Server, Odoo Database, Odoo Module, etc. Each of this resource types implemented as separate model inheriting generic.resource, and provides specific functionality.
