Supported Editions
Community
Enterprise
"Email Restriction" module supports both editions of Odoo, Community and Enterprise.
Features
Template-Based Restrictions: Create restriction rules for specific email templates, allowing you to control exactly which users can send particular types of emails. Perfect for controlling critical communications like sales confirmations or financial documents.
Model-Based Restrictions: Restrict all email templates belonging to a specific model with a single rule. This provides comprehensive control over entire business processes, such as all sales-related or purchase-related emails.
User Permission Management: Assign multiple users to each restriction rule, giving you flexibility in managing who can send specific types of emails. Easily add or remove users as your team structure changes.
Seamless Integration: The module integrates directly with Odoo's core email system, intercepting email sends at multiple levels including mail templates, compose wizards, and the mail queue to ensure comprehensive coverage.
Security Groups: Built-in security groups provide role-based access control. Email Restriction Managers can create and modify rules, while Email Restriction Users have read-only access to view existing restrictions.
Easy Configuration: Intuitive interface for creating and managing restriction rules. The configuration wizard guides you through selecting restriction types, templates or models, and authorized users with clear validation and helpful descriptions.
Compliance & Audit: Ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements by controlling who can send official communications. The module helps maintain audit trails and prevents unauthorized email sending.
How to Install
-
Open your Odoo ERP System ▶ Go to Apps ▶ Search for "Email Restriction" ▶ Click Install to download and activate this module.

Configuration
-
After installation, go to Settings ▶ Users & Companies ▶ Users. Open any user who should manage email restrictions and check the "Email Restriction Manager" checkbox in their access rights.

How to Use
-
Go to Settings ▶ Technical ▶ Email ▶ Email Restrictions.

-
Click the "Create" button to add a new email restriction rule.

-
Provide a descriptive name for your restriction rule (e.g., "Sales Order Email Restriction"). Select the Restriction Type: Choose "Specific Template" to restrict a single email template, or "All Templates for Model" to restrict all templates belonging to a specific model, or "Model's all messages" to restrict all messages for a model.

-
In the "Allowed Users" field, select the users who should be permitted to send emails using this template or model. You can select multiple users. Alternatively, check "Allow All Users" to permit all users. Add an optional description to document the purpose of this restriction rule, then click "Save" to activate the restriction. The restriction will take effect immediately.

-
When a user who is not in the allowed list attempts to send an email using the restricted template, they will receive an error message informing them that they don't have permission.
