manatec Map Geolocation Optimization
Consistent geolocation in Odoo ERP - finally reliable.
In the standard version of Odoo ERP, the same address may be resolved differently depending on where the geolocation is triggered.
If geolocation is started directly in a partner's contact form, Odoo uses the geolocation service defined in the system settings. The system relies on the intentionally configured provider, so address resolution follows the centrally defined system logic.
The situation is different when using the map view (web_map), for example in the context of a field service order. In this case, Odoo does not use the service stored in the settings by default but instead forces the use of Mapbox. As a result, identical addresses may be interpreted differently and thus deliveries may be affected - depending on whether geolocation is performed via the contact form or the map view.
Our solution in Odoo Field Service
The Geolocation for Odoo Field Service module adjusts the behavior of the map view through targeted JavaScript patching. This removes the strict use of Mapbox and replaces it with Odoo?s internal ORM geolocation function.
