User guide — WhatsApp Quick Send

How to install the app and send quotations, orders, invoices, and transfers by WhatsApp from Odoo.

1. Install the app

  1. Open Apps, clear the Apps filter, and search WhatsApp Quick Send.
  2. Click Install. Make sure Sales, Purchase, Invoicing (or Accounting), and Inventory are installed for the areas you use.

2. Prepare the contact

  1. Open the customer or vendor on the document.
  2. Enter a phone number (and country, if you use local numbers without +).
  3. Save. The WhatsApp button on the document appears when a phone is available.

3. Sales & purchase

  1. Open a quotation, sales order, RFQ, or purchase order.
  2. Click WhatsApp in the header. WhatsApp opens with a ready message and a PDF link at the bottom.
  3. Edit the text if you wish, then send from WhatsApp as usual.

4. Deliveries & receipts

  1. Open Inventory and open a transfer (delivery, receipt, or internal).
  2. Click WhatsApp. For deliveries to customers, the message can include the expected delivery time from the document.
  3. Use the PDF link to open the delivery slip when you are signed into Odoo in your browser.

5. Invoices & bills

  1. Open a customer invoice, credit note, vendor bill, or vendor credit note.
  2. Click WhatsApp to share the summary and invoice PDF link with your contact.

6. Opening the PDF from the message

Tap or copy the link in the WhatsApp message and open it in a browser where you are already logged into your company’s Odoo. If asked to sign in, log in first, then open the link again.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What does WhatsApp Quick Send do?
It adds a WhatsApp button on supported documents so you can open WhatsApp with a ready-written message about that order, invoice, or transfer, plus a link to open the same PDF you would print from Odoo.
2. Where is the WhatsApp button?
On the form of a supported record (sales, purchase, invoice, or stock transfer), look in the header for WhatsApp. The same action may also appear from the document chatter where configured.
3. Why don’t I see the WhatsApp button?
The customer or vendor on the document needs a saved phone number. Add or correct the number on the contact, save, then reopen the document. For local numbers without a country prefix, set the contact’s country so the number formats correctly.
4. What is the link at the bottom of the message?
It opens the official PDF report for that document in your browser. You must be signed in to the same Odoo company (or log in when prompted), then open the link again if needed.
5. Can I edit the message before sending?
Yes. Odoo only prepares a draft in WhatsApp. Change the wording or add notes before you send, the same as any other WhatsApp chat.
6. Does it work on phone and tablet?
Yes. WhatsApp opens in your usual app or browser. The PDF link still needs a browser session where you can access your Odoo database.
7. What about deliveries and expected dates?
For outgoing deliveries to customers, the prepared text can include expected delivery information from the transfer, when that date is set on the document.
8. Which Odoo versions are supported?
This edition is built for Odoo 15 (Community and Enterprise). Hosting on Odoo.sh is supported like any standard module.
