Overview

Whatsapp is an immensely popular chatting app used by 1.5 Billion people worldwide. It has an easy interface and can be used powerfully with Odoo. Pragmatic has developed an Odoo app which allows users to use the Whatsapp Application to send messages via Odoo. We can send messages from Contacts, Sales, Accounts invoice, Accounts Payments, Credit Notes, Delivery orders, Point of sale, Purchase orders, Project Task, CRM Lead, Payment Reminder, User signup page via the same application. Let us have a look at how this works inside Odoo.

Send message Configuration

  • Add order to get Signature to whatsapp Messages

  • Add product details in message such as name and other details:

In CRM, when a lead or opportunity is created then a message will be sent to the salesperson.

In Project Management when a task is created then a WhatsApp message will be sent to the assigned user.

If user sends a reply to task message as done then in odoo project task state is changed to done

Send a Payment reminder message to the customer.

Send messages to single or multiple Contacts within Odoo along with multiple attachments in different formats such as doc, pdf, image, audio, video

In the Point of sale Odoo app when an order is confirmed, send an order details message to the customer.

Send a message when a user signs up on the Odoo website page.

Check mobile number exists in whatsapp.

How does it work?

Gupshup: It is difficult to get a signup for WhatsApp for business directly and get access to the API as the signup process takes too long. Business users cannot simply download the WhatsApp API. To get the WhatsApp business API, they need to go through a BSP like Gupshup.

You can create a gupshup account from: www.gupshup.io/channels/whatsapp-api and click on Create an account

Chat API: It is difficult to get a signup for WhatsApp for business directly and get access to the API as the signup process takes too long. Hence, it is better to sign up for third party whatsapp API services such as Chat API.

You need to sign up for a Chat Api account: using the URL https://app.chat-api.com/login and click on "Create an account"

Select the API key provider: User can select any third party API key provider either Chat API or Ghupshup according to his preference. Check Image for reference:

Whatsapp Templates: Users can create whatsapp templates according to their need, all required templates are already available in our app.

While creating a message template user can also specify the third party api key provider:

User can send text messages to his clients as well as he can also add attachments like image, video, pdf file, excel sheet.

History: User can see all the history of sent and received messages and he also filters the messages user wise, customerwise.

Sales: Users can send sales order’s pdf with a text message and extra attachments to the customer's mobile number by clicking send WhatsApp messages from the Sales Order form view.

Purchase Order: Users can send purchase order’s pdf with a text message and extra attachments to the customer's mobile number by clicking send WhatsApp messages from the Purchase Order form view.

Delivery Orders: Users can send delivery order’s pdf with a text message and extra attachments to the customer's mobile number by clicking send WhatsApp messages from the Delivery Orders form view.

Accounts Invoice: Users can send Invoice pdf with a text message and extra attachments to the customer's mobile number by clicking send WhatsApp messages from the Invoice form view.

Credit Notes: Same as the account invoice functionality that we have used for credit notes. and automatically the message will be added to chatter. Users can send credit notes pdf with a text message and extra attachments to the customer's mobile number by clicking send WhatsApp messages from the credit notes form view.

CRM: User can send newly created lead information to the assigned salesperson

Project Task: We send newly created task information to the assigned salesperson.
