Problem
- Normally, when managing equipment, you will need to manage detailed parts of the machines, and equipment and track maintenance down to specific details.
- By default, Odoo doesn't have the feature that allows managing equipment with a genealogical hierarchy. This problem makes it difficult to manage the direct parts of equipment and doesn't have any link to track the maintenance history of each detailed part.
Solution
Maintenance app allows:
- Allow equipment to be a part of another equipment. E.g. Equipment A and equipment B is the direct part of equipment C.
- Show equipment and its direct parts as well as its dependent equipment on the same view.
- Search for equipment using its parts.
- Group the parts by equipment.
- Add an image of the equipment in its detail and show that image on Kanban.
- Add the Worksheet tab so you can upload and quickly view the equipment-related PDF document right on the Equipment view. This feature will help you to centrally store information and make them easy to be found.
- Track the changing history of some fields on the maintenance request.
- Only allow the maintenance manager to delete the maintenance request.

How to use
Instruction video: Equipment & Parts
1. Create equipment and equipment parts in a genealogical hierarchy.
To create equipment from the Maintenance module, navigate to Maintenance > Equipment > Create, here, you fill in the basic information for the equipment. In addition, if there are many equipment parts belonged to equipment that also needs to be monitored for maintenance, you can select the direct part for that equipment. Example: Create a Cylinder that is a direct part of the Hydraulic engine.
Note: If you don't want to manage the equipment in a genealogical hierarchy, you can leave the Directly apart of field blank. In addition, on the equipment detail, you can upload worksheets so that you can quickly view PDF documents related to this device.
2. Link the equipment and its direct parts.
On the parent equipment, you can track the direct parts of the equipment and their maintenance requests and vice versa.
3. Group/Search for the equipment from its direct parts.
On the equipment list, you can search for the equipment with the Directly apart of or Parts for criteria.

Parts that are for several equipments
