ⓘ Description
Alternate Products Viewer adds a convenient button to Sale Order lines and Manufacturing Order component lines that opens a wizard displaying all alternate products defined for that line's product.
The wizard shows each alternate product's part number, description, sale price, and on-hand quantity — giving your sales and production teams the information they need to make substitution decisions without navigating away from their current document.

⚙ Where It Works
The alternate products button is available on the following forms:
Sale OrdersAppears on each order line in the Order Lines tab. Helps sales teams quickly identify available substitutes when quoting or fulfilling orders. |
Manufacturing OrdersAppears on each component line in the Components tab. Helps production teams find substitute materials when stock is low. |
🔧 Configuration
Defining Alternate Products
This module uses Odoo's built-in Alternative Products feature. To define alternates for a product:
- Navigate to the Product form (via Sales, Inventory, or Manufacturing)
- Open the Alternative Products tab (available on the product template form)
- Add the desired alternate products to the list
- Save the product
The alternate products button will only appear on order lines where the product has at least one alternate product defined. If no alternates are configured for a product, the button is hidden automatically.

The 🔄 icon appears inline on each order line that has alternate products defined. Lines without alternates will not display the button.
Alternate Products Wizard
Clicking the button opens a popup wizard showing all alternate products with their part number, description, sale price, and on-hand quantity.

Button on Component Lines
The same 🔄 icon appears on each component line in the Manufacturing Order's raw materials list.

The wizard displays the same information regardless of where it's launched from.
