Link Planning and Project Tasks

This module was written to update project task planned dates according to the planning app

Features

possibility to select a task from the Planning slot form
updating the task Planning Dates & Assignees when we create / update / remove a slot

To configure this module, you need to go to Settings / Planning, and down below, we have a section for Link to Tasks.

You have two checkbox:

1. Update Dates on Tasks: Update planning dates on the related task.

2. Update Assignees on Tasks: Update assignees on the related task based on resource.

From Planning Form, select the resource and the task, then define the Date and Save or Publish:

Now, if you go the related task, you can see that the Planned Date and Assignees have been updated. Besides, there is a smart button displaying the number of slot(s) related to the task.

Super useful connection between planning dates and task dates

For a specific workflow, this is a very useful add on.
Before useing this tool, we used the automated planning. However, this does not work together with this module. So to take advantage from this great link of planning slot and task, we now plan manually. Thus, we have gained a better overview in our tasks.

Remark: we contacted the developer and they made an improvement just over the weekend :-) Great service, thank you.

Dear all

we bought and tested the module.

the good point is that you can plan with the Planning Module and it will update the task on the project side.

the negative point is that it only works if you have a Sale Order Line on the task ; therefore it cannot be used if you are only dealing with projects without Sales
this is not consistent with Odoo standard since you can plan from the project view on tasks that have no Sale order Line

It would also be nice to have the reverse way : plan in Project and Update Planning

Other issue (more related to Odoo itself) when Planning on project Odoo handles "Users" and when planning with the Planning module Odoo handles "Resources"

IMHO Very bad integration

After investigating your points, we would like to say:

Regarding the Sale Order Line, you are right; we'd better not have the dependency. Therefore, our team has improved the module and will publish the new code, which doesn't have any dependency on sales. Please share your email address with us so that we can send the improved version to you directly. You can send us an email to apps@bitigloo.com.
The reverse way (updating the planning based on the task) would not be correct, simply because we have many planning slots related to a task.
The point about the resources is Odoo's behavior, as you mentioned. Please consider the point that the resources can be non-human (materials, tools, machines) and maybe this can be a reason why Odoo uses Resources separate from Employees.
