Undo Message
Delay chatter messages for a few seconds so users can undo accidental sends before they reach customers or internal followers.
What does this module do?
Undo Message adds a controlled delay to Odoo chatter posts and compose wizard emails. During that delay, the user sees a countdown and an Undo action directly on the pending message.
If the message is undone, it is not sent. The original content is restored in the composer so the user can correct the text, review recipients, change attachments, or decide not to send it at all.
Undo before sending
Messages stay pending for the configured number of seconds, giving users time to stop an accidental send.
Visible countdown
The pending message shows how many seconds remain before it is posted, keeping the flow clear and predictable.
Composer restoration
When a chatter message is undone, the composer is reopened with the original body, mentions, reply target, signature option, and attachments.
Compose wizard support
Email sends from the Odoo compose wizard can also be delayed, including mass sends to multiple target records.
Company setting
Each company can define its own undo delay in seconds from the Discuss settings page.
Non-invasive behavior
Set the delay to 0 to disable the feature. Discuss channel messages are left untouched.
Undo from the chatter
After clicking send, the message appears in the chatter as pending. Users can press Undo while the countdown is active, then continue working in Odoo without losing their draft.
Using Undo Message
Once the module is installed and the delay is enabled, users continue posting messages as usual.

Write a chatter message
Open any document with chatter, write a message or internal note, add mentions or attachments if needed, and click send.

Review the pending countdown
The message appears immediately as pending and displays the remaining seconds before it will be sent.

Click Undo if needed
If the message has a mistake, click Undo before the countdown reaches zero.

Correct and send again
The composer is restored with the original content. Make the correction and send again when ready.

Use the compose wizard normally
When sending an email from the compose wizard, the same delay protects the send action and lets users cancel before final delivery.
Module configuration
Configure the undo window from the Discuss settings. The value is company dependent, so each company can use the delay that best fits its communication workflow.
Where to find the setting
Go to Settings > Discuss and find the Message Undo option. Enter the number of seconds that messages should wait before being sent.
Recommended values
Use 5 to 10 seconds for fast teams, or 15 to 30
seconds when messages often include attachments, sensitive customer details, or multiple recipients.
10 seconds.
0 seconds if a company should send chatter messages immediately.
Validation
Negative values are not allowed. Odoo will show a validation error if a user tries to save a delay below
0.
Frequently asked questions
Does this recall emails after they are already sent?
No. The module prevents accidental sends by delaying the post before it is executed. Once the countdown finishes and the message is sent, the normal Odoo mail flow applies.
Are attachments preserved when undoing?
Yes. Chatter message attachments are restored in the composer when the message is undone before sending.
Does it affect Discuss channels?
No. Messages posted in discuss.channel are sent immediately and are not delayed by this module.
What happens if sending fails after the delay?
In the compose wizard flow, Odoo shows an error notification and the pending message can be scheduled again after the issue is corrected.
