Two focused improvements to the Odoo chatter that make internal collaboration safer and more effective, with zero configuration.
Notify a whole channel from a log note. When you mention a Discuss channel inside a log note on any document, every member of that channel is automatically added to the notification recipients — the whole team gets pinged in one shot instead of tagging people one by one.
Edit only your own messages. Out of the box, Odoo lets any user with write access edit chatter messages authored by other people. This module closes that gap on both the backend and the frontend, so nobody can rewrite somebody else's note.
- Channel-wide notification — Mention a Discuss channel in a log note and all of its members are notified at once.
- Backend edit guard — The server rejects an attempt to edit a message you did not author (automation and superuser excluded).
- Frontend edit fix — The "author" check is corrected to compare by identifier, so the edit pencil only appears on messages you actually wrote.
- Works everywhere — Applies to every model that uses the chatter, with no setup.
- Honest audit trail — Keeps the message history trustworthy.
- Download and install the module from Apps (update the app list first if needed).
- No configuration is required — the module works right after install.
- Only the standard Discuss / mail module is required as a dependency.
On any document with a chatter, click Log note and type # followed by a channel name to mention it. When you send the note, every member of that channel is notified.
Try to edit a chatter message written by another user: the edit pencil no longer shows, and the change is rejected on the server if forced.
