DMS URL Support Extension

Use external document URLs in the DMS module instead of binary files

Overview

This module extends Odoo’s native Document Management System (DMS) by allowing users to upload document links (URLs) instead of binary file uploads. It’s perfect for teams using cloud storage platforms like Google Drive, Dropbox, or OneDrive, helping you save space and streamline access to cloud documents.

Key Features

  • 🌐 Add documents to DMS via external URLs
  • 💾 Save Odoo server storage by referencing external content
  • ☁️ Supports all major cloud services: Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, etc.
  • 📎 Use the same interface as default DMS—just toggle link mode
  • 🛠️ Compatible with Odoo 16 Community and Enterprise

How to Use

  1. Install the module from Odoo Apps
  2. Open the DMS module and click “Add Document”
  3. Choose “Add via URL” instead of uploading a file
  4. Paste the full link to your document (Google Drive, etc.)
  5. The document is now saved as a reference with metadata
