Product Default Code on Website
Show the internal reference (SKU) of the selected product variant directly on the website product page. The reference updates automatically whenever the customer changes a variant attribute.
What does this module do?
Product Default Code on Website adds the internal reference of the selected product variant to the website product page, shown just above the price. When a customer changes a variant attribute (size, colour, etc.), the displayed reference updates instantly to match the new combination.
Products with no internal reference set are unaffected -- the field is only rendered when a value exists. The feature can be toggled on or off per website from the website customization panel without uninstalling the module.
SKU on the product page
The internal reference appears on the product page above the price, giving customers and sales reps a quick way to identify the exact item.
Variant-aware dynamic update
When the customer selects a different variant combination, the displayed reference updates automatically without a page reload.
Toggleable customization
The Website Product Default code template can be enabled or disabled directly from the website customization panel, no code changes needed.
Hidden when empty
If a product or variant has no internal reference set, the reference line is not rendered. No blank labels appear on the page.
eCommerce ready
Works with the standard Odoo eCommerce product page. No theme modifications or custom templates required.
Community and Enterprise
Compatible with Odoo Community, Enterprise, and Odoo.sh. Depends only on the Website Sale module.
Reference updating with variant selection
As the customer switches between variant attributes, the internal reference updates in real time to reflect the selected combination.
Using the module
After installation the internal reference appears automatically on the product page for any product variant that has a value in the Internal Reference field.
-
Install the module
Go to Apps, search for Product Default Code on Website, and click Install. No additional configuration is required for the reference to appear.
-
Set the internal reference on your products
Go to Website > eCommerce > Products (or Inventory > Products) and open a product. In the General Information tab, fill in the Internal Reference field. For products with variants, set the reference on each variant individually in the Attributes & Variants tab.
-
Visit the product page on the website
Open the product page in the shop. The internal reference is displayed above the price with the label Reference: followed by the code of the currently selected variant combination.
-
Change the variant and observe the update
Select a different attribute value (e.g. a different size or colour). The reference updates immediately to show the internal reference of the newly selected variant combination.
Configuration
The module works out of the box after installation. The only optional setting is the ability to enable or disable the reference display per website using the website customization panel.
Enable or disable the reference display
Go to your website, open the website editor, and click Customize in the top bar. Look for the Website Product Default code option in the customization list and toggle it on or off. The change applies immediately to the live site.
Setting internal references on variants
To display a unique reference per variant, go to Inventory > Products > Products, open a product, and navigate to the Attributes & Variants tab. Click on a variant line to open its form and fill in the Internal Reference field.
