BoM vs Actual Manufacturing Order Variance Analysis in Odoo
In process manufacturing, the quantity of raw materials actually consumed during production is often different from the quantities planned or estimated in the Bill of Materials (BoM).
This module provides:
1. Detailed information of the Actual BoM on the manufacturing order.
2. A Variance Analysis view on the manufacturing order with color indication for higher, lower or equal consumption of raw materials.
3. A Variance Analysis report in PDF format with color indication and over/under/same cost difference.
Using these features, you can analyze whether the consumption of raw materials is higher or lower than expected, or within the defined tolerance factor.
Manufacturing Order Marked as "Done"
A manufacturing order marked as "Done" where the actual consumed quantity has been entered and recorded becomes the base for comparing planned versus actual BoM consumption and cost.
"Actual BoM" Tab on Manufacturing Order
When the manufacturing order is confirmed, a new tab "Actual BoM" is created on the MO (Manufacturing Order), showing the planned quantities of materials to be used according to the BoM for easy comparison with actual consumption.
"Variance Analysis" Tab on Manufacturing Order
When the manufacturing order is done, a new tab "Variance analysis" is displayed, showing the variations between planned and actually consumed quantities of materials.
When consumption is higher than expected, the entry in this tab is highlighted in Red so you can immediately see over-consumption.
When consumption is lower than expected, the entry in this tab is highlighted in Green, indicating under-consumption versus BoM.
When consumption is exactly as expected, the entry in this tab remains in the default Black color, indicating that actual usage matches the planned BoM.
Variance Analysis Report
The variance analysis report can be generated from the "Print" menu on the manufacturing order. The report shows lines in red for high consumption, green for low consumption and black for equal consumption. Additionally, an upward or downward arrow with the variance percentage highlights whether consumption is higher or lower than expected.
