Installation & Setup

1. Install the module: Go to Apps -> Search for "oe_product_label_builder" -> Click Install
2. Configure permissions: Navigate to Settings -> Users & Companies -> Grant label management access to users who will create templates and print labels
3. Initial configuration: Open Settings -> Technical -> Label Builder to set default DPI, rotation, and demo product for testing

Basic Usage

1. Create a label template: Go to Label Builder -> Templates -> Create, set dimensions, margins, grid layout, and add content fields (barcode, name, price, image, etc.)
2. Print labels: Open a product, stock picking, or sales order -> Click "Print Labels" -> Select template -> Preview -> Print (PDF or ZPL)
3. Batch print: Use the Print Labels wizard from the main menu to select multiple products or documents and print all labels in one operation
4. Configure defaults: Each user can set their preferred default template in their user preferences for faster daily printing

Tips & Best Practices

• Start with the included size presets (57x38mm, 52x30mm) for common retail and warehouse labels
• Use ZPL output for Zebra thermal printers to avoid PDF scaling issues
• Enable the "Replace standard Odoo print wizard" setting for a unified label printing experience
• Set per-user template defaults so frequent printers skip the template selection step

Important Notes

Test label alignment with a single sheet of plain paper before printing on label stock. ZPL output requires a Zebra-compatible printer or ZPL interpreter. Barcode data must be populated on product records for automatic barcode generation.

Q: Which Odoo versions are supported?

A: This release targets Odoo 16.0, 17.0, 18.0, and 19.0 Community and Enterprise editions. Contact us for other version availability.

Q: Does this module support thermal/Zebra printers?

A: Yes. The module generates raw ZPL output that prints directly to Zebra-compatible thermal printers. PDF output is also available for standard laser or inkjet printers.

Q: Can I print labels from stock pickings and sales orders?

A: Yes. Smart buttons on stock picking and sales order forms let you print labels directly from those records. The batch wizard also supports selecting multiple pickings or orders at once.

Q: What barcode formats are supported?

A: EAN-13, UPC-A, Code128, and QR codes. Barcodes are generated automatically from product barcode data with no external libraries or API calls required.

Q: Can I create custom label sizes?
