User-ID

You can send a unique identifier of a portal user to Google with website tracking events. The user ID is a randomly generated code in Odoo that does not contain any personal data about the website visitor.

On the Google Analytics side, this identifier helps to analyze a visitor behavior on your website across different sessions and on different devices used by the user. GA4 User-ID helps to consolidate tracking data for cross-platform analysis.

Found out more about the User-ID feature by this link: https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/9213390.

To add "User-ID" to GA4 events tracking data, open the "Advanced Matching" tab and activate the "External ID" option.

As the GA4 gtag script does not have to send tracking data about a website activity of internal users, there are several testing tips:

  • Log out from the system or use the incognito mode or other browser to test Google Analytics 4 script.

Example: Product X has been added to the cart 25 times.
7. Items purchased
Example: product X was bought 10 times.
8. Revenue item
Example: Product X brought in $1000 in revenue.

And so on ?

Re: Question about data reporting

Hi, Paun Emil Florin

Thank you for your question!

Our Odoo Google Analytics 4 solution tracks the following eCommerce events:

"view_item_list", "view_item", "search", "add_to_cart", "begin_checkout", "add_shipping_info", "add_payment_info", "purchase".

The solution sends these data to GA4 and you can analyze it there in reports and dashboards. If you ask about logging these events in Odoo, this module does not log them. It only sends the necessary data to Google Analytics 4.

Please let me know if you need additional information.

Best regards, Yurii Razumovskyi.
