Setup & Requirements

To use this module, install additional pip and apt packages on your Odoo server for parsing PDFs and images with OCR.

  1. Ensure you have these pip packages installed: pytesseract pypdf pdf2image opencv-python
  2. Ensure these apt packages are installed (on Odoo.sh these packages are preinstalled): tesseract-ocr poppler-utils libgl1 (use: apt update && apt install -y tesseract-ocr poppler-utils libgl1)
  3. Optional: For invoices in languages other than English, install language packs for tesseract using (on Odoo.sh all language packages are preinstalled): apt install -y tesseract-ocr-lang (e.g., apt install tesseract-ocr-fra for French).

    To see and enable available languages, go to Settings - Invoicing - Digitization
  4. That's it, you're ready to go!

How exactly are you "harnessing the power of AI" with this module? If you are making calls to a LLM/AI exactly what info are sending these companies from my business documentation? How can this be free forever if you're really using AI?


Another comment on this module says that they enjoyed this module so much they bought 4 of them.... Something serious questions about what's being advertised and what's being delivered.

Great questions, thank you! I will try to answer all of them.

How exactly are you "harnessing the power of AI" with this module? If you are making calls to a LLM/AI exactly what info are sending these companies from my business documentation?

- The module extracts all of the text from your pdf/image document. Then it sends the text to AI with instructions of what data to extract from it. AI returns the extracted data wich is used for creating invoice document in Odoo.

How can this be free forever if you're really using AI?

- It uses Odoo's internal AI api which is essentialy a wrapper around OpenAI's GPT-3.5. It is the same AI that was introduced with Odoo 17 and is used in website module and Odoobot AI tools. And it is free.

i bought all 4 modules fro app store, since this one is the best one so far, just missing auto create vendor and maybe if could do also expenses would be killing

On odoo.sh these packages are preinstalled, no need for you to install those.

Are the fields for OCR/AI parsing hardcoded or are all fields possible for AI parsing?

I did a check in your demo, but it seems to lack many default fields that could have been found in the PDF document. 
It skips fields like vendor (name is clearly on the document), payment reference (could be the invoice number from vendor), ... 

It helps only a little and still requires too many manual corrections

The fields that are currently supported are:

Invoice fields:

  • partner_id - if the partner exists in the system; searched by registry num, vat, email or name
  • invoice_date
  • invoice_date_due
  • narration/notes
  • reference
  • payment?reference

Invoice line fields:

  • name
  • quantity
  • price_unit
  • discount
  • tax_ids - if tax was found

Of course, not every time the AI can find all of the information above. But that is why there is the possibility to try this module - so you can see if it fits to your needs :)
