Defective Product Not Compliant with Odoo Practices
by
Frederico Batista
on 7/9/25, 12:08 PM

This is our final notification regarding the critical flaws found in the adm_pos_kitchen_screen module, purchased through the Odoo App Store.

After our previous attempts to contact you, which were met with evasive responses and, ultimately, silence, we have compiled a detailed dossier proving that the delivered product is fundamentally defective and does not comply with Odoo platform development best practices.

Below are the undeniable issues that require immediate cancellation of the purchase:

1. Critical Operational Security Flaw (Major Bug):

The module sends canceled or failed payment orders (via self-service QR Code) to the kitchen production screen (KDS). This flaw, in itself, renders the product unusable and dangerous for any restaurant operation, causing direct financial loss. This behavior is unacceptable for a production system.

2. Proven False Advertising:

The module's marketing material on the App Store displays an image of a KDS screen named "Bar," implying the ability to rename and create multiple screens. However, when questioned, support admitted that such functionality does not exist. This constitutes a clear contradiction and false advertising.

3. Serious Development Flaw (Non-Compliance with Odoo Internationalization):

After a technical analysis, we found that the module is not translatable using Odoo's standard methods.

Evidence: The export of translation terms (.po file) for the adm_pos_kitchen_screen module does not include the main interface texts (e.g., "Pending," "In progress," "Done").

Root Cause: The texts are hardcoded in the module's JavaScript code, without using the _t() translation function required by Odoo's best development practices.

Consequence: The module is unusable for customers in non-English-speaking regions unless the buyer modifies the source code, which is unacceptable for a commercial product. This failure demonstrates the module's poor technical quality.

4. Abandonment of Support and Refusal to Take Responsibility:

The vendor's support team proved incapable of resolving the issues, initially with defensive responses and subsequently by completely abandoning communication, ignoring our requests for a solution.

Situation Summary:

The delivered product is, in fact, defective, poorly constructed, misleadingly advertised, and sold without proper support. The evidence (including system screenshots proving the module's technical name, its author, and translation errors) is clear and irrefutable.

Severe development failure (non -compliance with the internationalization of odo)
by
Frederico Batista
on 7/9/25, 12:05 PM Confirmed Purchase

Severe development failure (non -compliance with the internationalization of odo):

WARNING: Critical Bug Causes Financial Loss. Unusable & Non-Existent Support.
by
Frederico Batista
on 7/9/25, 9:46 AM Confirmed Purchase

I am writing this review as a warning to other restaurant and business owners considering purchasing the POS Kitchen Display Screen (adm_pos_kitchen_screen) module. My experience has been extremely negative, and the product in its current state represents a real financial risk to any operation.

THE MOST SERIOUS PROBLEM (READ THIS BEFORE YOU BUY):

The module has a critical and dangerous design flaw: orders placed via self-service (QR Code) that are CANCELED by the customer or have their PAYMENT DECLINED are still SENT to the kitchen display screen (KDS).

Imagine your kitchen staff preparing meals that will never be paid for. This leads to:

  • Direct financial loss: Wasted cost of ingredients and labor.
  • Operational chaos: Your team gets overwhelmed with ghost orders.
  • Food waste: Perfectly good inventory is thrown in the trash.

This bug alone makes the module completely unusable in a real-world production environment. This is not a matter of preference; it's a flaw that undermines business viability.

OTHER ISSUES AND MISLEADING ADVERTISING:

Beyond this critical flaw, the module suffers from other problems:

  1. Misleading Marketing: The app's sales page shows a KDS screen named "Bar," suggesting that creating and renaming screens is possible. The vendor confirmed this is not possible, directly contradicting their own advertisement.
  2. Lack of Basic Features: You cannot rename screens, there is no Portuguese (pt-BR) translation, and the configuration is scattered and unintuitive, with no central menu.
  3. Zero Flexibility: It does not allow the use of the same screen for both the POS and the KDS, which is essential for smaller operations.

CUSTOMER SUPPORT: DEFENSIVE AND NOW NON-EXISTENT

When I reported these issues, the vendor's initial response was defensive, dismissing the flaws with the excuse that "we don't offer this feature." After I presented clear arguments about the severity of the bugs, the vendor simply stopped responding. A company that does not take responsibility for a defective product is not trustworthy.

CONCLUSION:

Do not risk your money and the peace of your operation. The financial risk from the main bug is real, and customer support is non-existent when faced with serious problems. I am requesting a refund for a product that does not work as it should and was advertised deceptively.

To the developer: I will gladly revise and update this review if this critical flaw is fixed and the refund for a non-functional product is processed. Until then, my advice to all other users is: STAY AWAY FROM THIS MODULE.
