One switch for every unwanted follower
Stop Odoo from auto-subscribing salespeople, buyers, invoice users, warehouse staff, customers and vendors to Sales, Purchase, Invoicing and Inventory documents — from one settings page.
The moment a Sales Order, Purchase Order, invoice, bill or transfer is created or reassigned, Odoo silently subscribes the responsible salesperson, buyer or warehouse user — and often the customer or vendor too. Every one of those follows can trigger an email. Multiply that across departments and inboxes fill up with notifications nobody asked for.
One "Disable Followers" settings page with independent toggles for internal staff and for customers/vendors, across Sales, Purchase, Invoicing and Inventory — plus an option to keep the follower but silence the notification email. Manually adding a follower from the chatter always keeps working.
Every follower channel, one page
Every capability below is implemented in the module.
Stop Sales Order Auto-Follow
Stop subscribing the salesperson as a follower on creation or reassignment of a Sales Order.
Stop Purchase Order Auto-Follow
Stop subscribing the buyer as a follower on creation or reassignment of a Purchase Order.
Stop Invoicing Auto-Follow
Stop subscribing the invoice user as a follower on invoices, bills, credit notes and debit notes.
Stop Inventory Transfer Auto-Follow
Stop subscribing the responsible user as a follower on creation or reassignment of a transfer.
Stop Customer/Vendor Follow on Sales & Purchase
Stop subscribing the customer when a quotation is sent or a Sales Order is confirmed, and the vendor when a Purchase Order is confirmed.
Stop Customer/Vendor Follow on Invoicing & Transfers
Stop subscribing the customer or vendor when an invoice, bill, credit note or debit note is posted, or when they are set on a receipt or delivery.
Suppress Notification Emails
Keep an internal follower on the record for visibility, but silence the assignment notification email Odoo would normally send them.
Manual Follows Still Work
Every toggle only blocks the automatic subscription. Adding a follower by hand from the chatter keeps working exactly as before.
One Unified Settings Page
Every toggle for Sales, Purchase, Invoicing and Inventory lives on a single "Disable Followers" settings page — no hunting across separate module settings.
How it works
Open Settings
Go to Settings and open the "Disable Followers" app page.
Pick Internal or Partner
Choose which auto-follow to stop: internal staff, customers/vendors, or both.
Toggle by Document
Switch off Sales, Purchase, Invoicing and Inventory independently, then save.
Quieter Inboxes
New and reassigned records stop auto-notifying people who never asked to follow.
See it in action
Real screens from the module, captured on Odoo 17.
Internal Staff Auto-Follow and Customer / Vendor Auto-Follow — eight independent toggles covering Sales, Purchase, Invoicing and Inventory.
Notification Emails — keep an auto-added follower on the record while suppressing the email Odoo would normally send.
Frequently asked
Does this remove followers that are already on a record?
No. The toggles only stop the automatic subscription from happening in the first place. Existing followers on already-created records are left untouched.
Can I still add a follower manually?
Yes. Every toggle only blocks the automatic subscription path. Adding someone as a follower from the chatter always keeps working.
What is the difference between "internal" and "partner" toggles?
Internal toggles stop auto-following your own staff (salesperson, buyer, invoice user, warehouse responsible). Partner toggles stop auto-following the customer or vendor on the same documents. They are controlled separately so you can disable one without the other.
What does "Suppress Notification Emails" do differently from disabling a follower?
Disabling a follow toggle stops the person from being added as a follower at all. Suppressing notification emails keeps them as a follower for visibility on the record, but does not send them the assignment notification email Odoo would normally trigger.
