Cancel Manufacturing Orders cleanly — at any stage
Cancel or reset MOs in Confirmed, Planned or Done state with automatic stock and valuation reversal, cascade to work orders, transfers and scrap, a cascade-scope preview, and a full audit log with reporting by reason — built natively on Odoo Manufacturing.
Odoo's native MO cancellation is narrow: it does not reliably reverse consumed components, clean up the stock moves and valuation entries a production run created, or cascade to related work orders, scrap orders and pickings. Teams are left manually backtracking stock quantities after every cancelled or abandoned order.
A guided cancel wizard reverses components via a valuation-correct unbuild, cascades to work orders, transfers and scrap with a scope preview before you commit, and logs every action for reporting — covering Confirmed, Planned and Done orders in one workflow.
Everything a cancelled MO needs
Every capability below is implemented in the module.
Guided Cancel Wizard
Cancel one MO or many at once from the list view, with a required cancellation reason and a live cascade-scope preview before you commit.
Cancel at Any Stage
Confirmed, Planned or Done — cancel or reverse an MO no matter how far production has progressed, not just the early states.
Valuation-Correct Done Reversal
Completed MOs are reversed through Odoo's own unbuild mechanism — components return to stock with correct valuation, gated behind a dedicated access right.
Cascade to Work Orders & Transfers
Related work orders and stock pickings are closed out as part of the same action, so you never hit a blocking "cancel the picking first" error.
Configurable Cascade Scope
Toggle whether pickings and scrap orders are cancelled alongside the MO, and see exactly how many of each will be affected before you confirm.
Reset to Draft
Changed your mind? Reset a cancelled MO back to draft, reviving its moves and work orders so it can be corrected and re-run.
Partial-Production Quantity Correction
Only some units were produced? Reduce the planned quantity instead of cancelling the whole order and discarding valid production data.
Configurable Cancellation Reasons
A reusable, quick-select reason list ships ready to use and can be extended per company, keeping reporting data consistent.
Full Audit Log & Reporting
Every cancellation is logged with who, when, what was reversed and why — with pivot and graph views for reporting by reason.
How it works
Select MOs
Open the Cancel wizard from an MO's form or select several from the list view for a bulk action.
Review the preview
Pick a reason and see exactly which work orders, transfers and scrap orders will be affected before you commit.
Confirm the cancel
Components are reversed to stock, related records are closed out, and a completion summary opens automatically.
Audit or recover
Review every cancellation in the audit log, or reset an order back to draft if it needs to be corrected and re-run.

Frequently asked
Can I cancel a manufacturing order that is already Done?
Yes. Done MOs are reversed through Odoo's own unbuild mechanism, which returns components to stock with correct valuation. This is gated behind a dedicated access right so only authorized users can reverse completed production.
What happens to components that were already consumed?
They are returned to stock as part of the same cancellation action, so inventory counts stay accurate without any manual stock correction afterward.
Can I undo a cancellation?
Use Reset to Draft to recover a cancelled order — it revives the underlying moves and work orders so the MO can be corrected and re-run. This is the recommended recovery path for orders cancelled before significant consumption.
Does it give me an audit trail for compliance?
Yes. Every cancellation is logged with who acted, when, the reason, and exactly what was reversed, with pivot and graph views for reporting by reason.
