Create Manufacturing Orders Automatically from Every POS Sale
When a made-to-order product is sold at the till, this module creates the Manufacturing Order for you — validated, linked, and ready for production, with zero extra clicks for your cashiers.
Point of Sale and Manufacturing don't talk to each other out of the box. A cashier can ring up a made-to-order item, but no Manufacturing Order is created — leaving the kitchen or production floor unaware of what to produce, and stock counts drifting from what was actually sold.
This module connects the two automatically. Every sale of a manufacturing-enabled product creates and confirms its Manufacturing Order on the server the moment the sale is validated — no cashier training, no elevated permissions, and no manual re-keying required.
Everything you need to connect POS and production
Every capability below is implemented in the module.
Automatic MO Creation
Every paid POS sale of a manufacturing-enabled product creates its Manufacturing Order the moment the order is validated — no manual step required.
Server-Side, No Elevated Rights
Manufacturing Orders are created with elevated permissions internally, so cashiers only ever need standard Point of Sale access — never Manufacturing rights.
Discoverable Per-Product Toggle
Enable POS-driven manufacturing right from the product form's Point of Sale tab, with plain-language help text explaining exactly what it does.
Pre-Sale Bill of Materials Check
Optionally block a sale before it finalizes when an enabled product has no Bill of Materials, so failures never surface after the fact.
Guided Remediation
A clear warning banner on the product form flags a missing Bill of Materials the moment the toggle is enabled, with a direct path to fix it.
Real-Time Production Status
A production-status badge and smart button on every POS order show at a glance whether manufacturing is pending, in progress, or done.
Two-Way Traceability
Smart buttons link every Manufacturing Order back to its originating POS order and back again, so troubleshooting never means digging through two disconnected systems.
Automatic Route Assignment
Enabling the toggle automatically assigns the Manufacture route to the product, removing a manual configuration step administrators often forget.
Production Team Notifications
Every Manufacturing Order created from a sale posts a chatter note and schedules a to-do activity for the responsible user, so production staff are notified instantly.
How it works
Enable on the Product
Turn on "Create Manufacturing Order from POS" on any made-to-order product and add its Bill of Materials.
Sell as Usual
Cashiers ring up the sale exactly as they always do — no extra screens, no extra training.
Validate & Create
On payment, the system checks the Bill of Materials and creates (and optionally confirms) the Manufacturing Order automatically.
Track & Produce
Production staff are notified, and managers track status from either the POS order or the Manufacturing Order itself.
See it in action
Every capability below is captured from the running module.
Enable "Create Manufacturing Order from POS" on the product's Point of Sale tab. A ready product (Bill of Materials present) shows a clean, ready state.
If the toggle is enabled without a Bill of Materials, a warning banner appears immediately, guiding the admin to fix the setup before it causes a failed sale.
Every POS order shows a smart button to its Manufacturing Orders and an aggregate production-status badge, so managers see readiness at a glance.
Each Manufacturing Order links back to its originating POS order with a smart button and a visible traceability field.
A dedicated "From POS" filter on the Manufacturing Orders list lets planners isolate POS-driven production at a glance.
The POS product grid itself shows a badge on every manufacturing-enabled product — a teal wrench when ready, a yellow warning when the Bill of Materials is missing.
Frequently asked
Do cashiers need Manufacturing permissions to trigger production?
No. Manufacturing Orders are created server-side with elevated rights internally, so cashiers only need standard Point of Sale access.
What happens if an enabled product has no Bill of Materials?
The product form shows an immediate warning, and at checkout you can choose to either block the sale until the Bill of Materials is fixed, or skip that line and let the rest of the sale complete — configurable per Point of Sale.
Can I review or adjust Manufacturing Orders before production starts?
Yes. Auto-confirmation is configurable per Point of Sale — leave it off and every created Manufacturing Order stays in Draft for a planner to review first.
Does this work with Odoo Community and Enterprise, and with product variants?
Yes. The module supports both editions and works with product variants and multi-component Bills of Materials.
