Mass data cleanup you can trust
Preview every deletion, keep a full audit trail, and undo mistakes within a recovery window — bulk cleanup, duplicate contact removal, and a database health score, all without developer mode.
Odoo databases fill up with leftover test records, duplicate contacts, orphan attachments, stale logs, and abandoned emails. Most cleanup tools delete blind — no preview of what will be affected, no record of who removed what, and no way to undo a mistake. Several even force you into developer mode, putting real data-loss risk in non-technical hands.
Mass Clean Data turns cleanup into a guided, admin-friendly flow: choose what to clean, preview exact record counts, confirm, and review. Every operation is logged with user and timestamp, and stays reversible within a recovery window — plus duplicate removal and a health dashboard to keep data clean over time.
Everything you need for safe cleanup
Every capability below is implemented in the module.
Bulk deletion by target
Clear entire categories of data through configurable cleanup targets, each defined by a model and an optional filter — check the ones you want and clean them in a single operation.
Deletion preview with counts
See the exact number of records each target will remove before anything is deleted. Confirm only once you know the blast radius — no more committing to a bulk delete blind.
Reversible recovery window
Each cleanup keeps a snapshot of every deleted record. Restore individual records or the whole batch within a configurable recovery window, so an accidental deletion is never permanent.
Full audit log
Every cleanup is recorded with the user, timestamp, operation type, and a per-model breakdown of how many records were removed — accountability that no bare bulk-delete tool provides.
Duplicate contact removal
Detect contacts that share the same email or name, review the groups, and remove the duplicates while keeping the oldest record as the master — every removal is snapshotted and reversible.
Text standardization
Normalize inconsistent data entry by title-casing contact names and trimming and lower-casing emails, so records match reliably before duplicate detection runs.
Database health dashboard
A single dashboard scores your database from 0 to 100 and surfaces orphan attachments, abandoned emails, stale logs, and duplicate contacts — an ongoing view of bloat rather than a one-time wipe.
One-click bloat cleanup
Clear orphaned attachments left behind by deleted records, abandoned or failed outgoing emails, and stale system logs straight from the health dashboard — each cleanup logged and recoverable.
Scheduled cleanup, no dev mode
Flag targets for a recurring automated cleanup job to keep the database tidy over time. The whole tool lives in a standard admin menu — no developer mode required.
How it works
Select scope
Check the data targets to clean, or pick the one-click "clean everything" option.
Preview impact
Review the exact record count for each target. Nothing is deleted at this stage.
Confirm cleanup
Records are removed, a recovery snapshot is stored, and an audit entry is written.
Review & recover
Open the cleanup history to see what was removed and restore anything within the recovery window.
See it in action
Guided cleanup, a full audit trail, reversible deletions, and an ongoing database health score.
Configurable cleanup targets, each with its own model, filter, and live count of matching records — mark any as protected or scheduled.
The guided wizard: choose what to clean and whether to keep recovery snapshots. Nothing is deleted until you preview and confirm.
A complete cleanup history: every operation with its user, timestamp, records deleted, and how many are still recoverable.
Each log opens to a per-model breakdown and a Restore All action — recover deleted records for as long as the window is open.
Find duplicate contacts by email or name, standardize text first, and remove duplicates while keeping the oldest as master.
The health dashboard scores the database and counts orphan attachments, abandoned emails, stale logs, and duplicate contacts — each cleanable in one click.
Frequently asked
Do I need to enable developer mode?
No. Everything lives in a standard "Data Cleanup" admin menu with guided wizards, so non-technical administrators and office managers can run cleanups without any special mode or SQL.
Can I undo a cleanup if I make a mistake?
Yes. When recovery snapshots are enabled, each deleted record is stored and can be restored individually or all at once from the cleanup log, for as long as the recovery window (configurable, 30 days by default) remains open.
What is recorded for each cleanup?
Every operation writes an audit log entry with the user who ran it, the timestamp, the operation type, a per-model breakdown of records deleted, and how many remain recoverable — so cleanups are always accountable.
Which records can it clean?
It ships with common targets (messages, activities, logs, attachments, abandoned emails, contacts) and you can add your own by choosing a model and an optional filter. It also handles orphan attachments, stuck emails, stale logs, and duplicate contacts from the health dashboard.
