Turn one invoice into a trackable payment plan
Split any customer invoice or sales order into a frequency-based installment schedule with a live visual timeline, automated reminders, and a self-service customer portal — no spreadsheets, no manual chasing.
Odoo's native payment terms can split an invoice into a static percentage schedule, but they were never built to be an installment product. There is no per-installment status, no visual schedule for the sales rep or the customer to see, no down payment or late-fee logic, and no reminder workflow — so finance teams end up tracking plans in spreadsheets and manually chasing every due date.
Payment Installments generates a frequency-based schedule directly from an invoice or sales order, tracks every installment's status as payments arrive, applies late fees and early-payment discounts automatically, and drives reminder emails and dunning off the same schedule — with a portal page so customers always know what is due and when.
Everything an installment plan needs
Every capability below is implemented in the module.
Frequency-Based Schedules
Weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly or yearly cadences with automatic due-date and amount generation, rounding remainder included, so the schedule always reconciles to the invoice total.
Visual Installment Timeline
Every plan shows a live timeline of due dates, amounts and status colour-coded paid, partial, due or overdue — at a glance, directly on the plan form.
Down Payments
Configure a down payment as a percentage or a fixed amount; the remaining balance is split automatically across the chosen schedule.
Late Fees & Early Discounts
Apply a configurable late-fee percentage to overdue installments and reward early payers with a tiered early-payment discount window.
Automated Reminders & Dunning
A daily scheduled action emails customers ahead of upcoming due dates, sends overdue notices, and creates a follow-up activity for the salesperson on every late installment.
Customer Self-Service Portal
Customers see their own installment plans, remaining balance, due dates and status from the portal, with a direct link to pay the linked invoice online.
Pre-Built Plan Templates
Ship-ready templates such as 12-Month Equal, 50/50 Split and Quarterly with a down payment let staff configure a plan in one click, or build their own reusable presets.
Sales Order & Invoice Integration
Enable installments on a quotation and preview the plan before confirming, or launch a guided wizard from any customer invoice; a smart button always shows the linked plan.
Cash-Flow & Aging Reports
List, pivot and graph views of every installment line grouped by due date and status give finance a forward-looking view of expected collections and overdue exposure, plus a printable PDF schedule.

Frequently asked
Does this work with sales orders as well as invoices?
Yes. Enable installments on a sales order and preview the schedule before confirming; when the order is invoiced, the tracked installment plan is generated on the resulting invoice using the chosen template.
How are down payments, late fees and discounts calculated?
Down payments can be a percentage or a fixed amount, taken off the invoice total before the remaining balance is split. Late fees are a configurable percentage applied to an overdue installment's residual amount, and an early-payment discount percentage applies when a line is paid a configured number of days ahead of its due date.
Can customers see their schedule without extra setup?
Yes. Any portal user tied to the invoice's customer automatically sees their own installment plans and schedule under My Account, with no additional configuration required.
Does it change how payments are recorded in accounting?
No. The invoice and its payments are recorded exactly as standard Odoo accounting would record them; the module tracks how each registered payment applies across the installment schedule as a reporting overlay, without changing the underlying journal entries.
