Pharmacy management, done the safe way
Dispense prescription and over-the-counter medicines with active-ingredient tracking, drug-interaction warnings, enforced batch expiry, and one-click billing — all native to Odoo.
Generic Odoo treats medicines like ordinary products — no active ingredients, no interaction checks, no lot-level expiry enforcement, no prescription linkage. Pharmacy staff fall back on spreadsheets and paper logs, which are slow, error-prone, and a regulatory risk.
One pharmacy workspace where every medicine carries its salt and manufacturer, interactions are flagged as you build a prescription, expired batches are blocked at dispense time, and a prescription becomes a customer invoice in a single click.
Everything a busy counter needs
Every capability below is implemented in the module.
Medicine Catalog
Extend Odoo products into a full medicine catalog with manufacturer, dosage form, strength, storage and side-effect documentation — one trusted source for staff advice.
Active Ingredient Tracking
Link every medicine to its salt (active ingredient). Equivalent products are matched automatically, so substitute suggestions appear when the prescribed item is unavailable.
Drug Interaction Checking
Record interactions between active ingredients with a severity level. A warning banner appears on any prescription that combines interacting medicines, before it is dispensed.
Batch & Expiry Control
Track stock by batch with manufacture and expiry dates. Batches are flagged Valid, Near Expiry, or Expired, and expired batches can be blocked from dispensing at the counter.
Prescription Workflow
Move each prescription from draft to confirmed to dispensed with a sequenced reference, dosage and duration per line, and a full chatter audit trail.
Prescription-to-Invoice
Turn a prescription into a standard Odoo customer invoice in one click. Taxes, payments and reporting flow through native Accounting with no re-entry.
Prescriber & Patient Records
Keep a prescriber (doctor) database with registration numbers and a patient register with allergies and history — the traceability compliant dispensing requires.
Reports & Analytics
Print prescription and expiry PDFs, run the expiry report wizard, and analyse prescriptions and batches through pivot and graph views.
Guided Configuration
Set the near-expiry alert lead time and the expired-batch policy from a simple settings screen, plus role-based access for Pharmacy Staff and Pharmacy Manager.

Frequently asked
Do I need an external drug database?
No. Active ingredients, interactions and side-effect data are entered and maintained inside Odoo, so the app runs out of the box with no licensed third-party database required.
How does expiry blocking work?
Each batch carries an expiry date and a computed status. When the expired-batch policy is set to block, dispensing a prescription line against an expired batch is prevented at the counter.
Does it create real accounting invoices?
Yes. A prescription generates a standard Odoo customer invoice, so taxes, payments and reporting behave exactly as they do elsewhere in Accounting.
Which Odoo version does it support?
This build targets Odoo 17 Community and Enterprise. It depends only on standard Mail, Product, Inventory and Accounting apps.
