Manual weight entry, guarded at the till.
Let cashiers key a weight from any scale or label straight into the POS — with per-product bounds, an override prompt, and a live price preview. No hardware required.
Shops that sell by weight but have no integrated electronic scale — or one that will not talk to Odoo reliably — force cashiers to convert a weight into a quantity by hand. A mis-typed number goes straight to the receipt with no check at all, and busy queues make mistakes more likely.
Cerevantix POS Manual Weight adds a guided weight keypad to the checkout screen. Cashiers type the weight, watch the price update live, and get an override prompt whenever the value falls outside the product's expected range — no scale driver or POSBox setup involved.
Everything you need for weight-based sales
Every capability below is implemented in the module.
Manual weight keypad
Key a weight for any to-weight product straight from the POS grid — no electronic scale or POSBox required.
Live price preview
Watch the line price recalculate on every keystroke, so the total is confirmed before the line is even added.
Per-product weight bounds
Set an expected Min Weight and Max Weight on each weighable product from its Point of Sale tab.
Preset starting weight
Pre-fill the keypad with a typical portion weight so common items are confirmed in a single tap.
Out-of-range inline feedback
A weight outside the expected range shows an on-screen warning before the cashier can confirm.
Override confirmation prompt
Out-of-range entries require an explicit "Use anyway" confirmation, so mistakes cannot reach the receipt silently.
Recent-weight quick-fill chips
The keypad remembers the last weights used for a product on this till and offers them as one-tap chips.
POS Settings toggle
Turn Manual Weight Entry on or off per point of sale from Settings, without touching a single product.
Non-destructive alongside your scale
The native electronic-scale flow is left completely untouched; the manual keypad only appears when no scale is connected and manual entry is enabled.
How it works
Enable & configure
Turn on Manual Weight Entry in POS Settings and set a Min, Max, and Preset weight on each weighable product.
Ring up a weighed item
Tap the product in the POS grid; since no scale is connected, the manual weight keypad opens automatically.
Key the weight
Type the weight read off the scale or label; the price updates live, and out-of-range values trigger a confirm prompt.
Confirm & sell
Confirm the line; the weight becomes the sold quantity, the price is set, and the weight is remembered for next time.
See it in action
From product setup to a confirmed weight-based sale at the till.
Set a Min Weight, Max Weight, and Preset Weight for any weighable product from its Point of Sale tab.
Turn Manual Weight Entry on per point of sale from POS Settings.
Weighable products appear in the POS grid just like any other item — no scale hardware needed.
Tapping a weighable product opens the manual weight keypad, pre-filled with the preset and showing a live price preview.
An out-of-range weight is flagged inline before the cashier can confirm.
Confirming an out-of-range weight requires an explicit override, so mistakes never reach the receipt unseen.
The confirmed weight becomes the order line's quantity, with the price computed automatically.
Recent weights for this product are offered as one-tap chips for faster repeat sales.
Frequently asked
Do I need an electronic scale or POSBox to use this?
No. The manual weight keypad works with zero additional hardware and no mandatory configuration — key the weight from any standalone scale or a pre-printed label.
What happens to my existing electronic scale integration?
It is left completely untouched. The manual keypad only activates when a point of sale has no integrated electronic scale connected and Manual Weight Entry is enabled in Settings.
Can I stop a cashier from entering an unreasonable weight?
Yes. Set a Min Weight and Max Weight on each weighable product; entries outside that range show an inline warning and require an explicit override confirmation before the line is added.
Is the recent-weight history shared across the shop?
No. Recent-weight suggestions are stored locally in the browser of the till that used them, so different terminals build their own quick-fill history.
