Know your real profit on every sale
One unified, line-level profitability report across Sales orders and Point of Sale — discount- and tax-accurate margins, color-coded loss alerts, and guided drill-downs. Installs with zero configuration.
Revenue is everywhere in Odoo, but profit is not. Sales and POS sit in separate reports with no shared view of true margin, so a "best-selling" product can quietly be a loss-maker once discounts, taxes, and cost are accounted for. Finding out today means exporting to a spreadsheet and joining price, cost, and discount columns by hand.
Sales & POS Profitability unifies both channels into one line-level report the moment you install it. Every row nets sales value against recorded cost, discount- and tax-accurate, with color-coded margins, a configurable low-margin threshold, and guided views for loss-making lines, categories, customers, and POS cashiers — no configuration, no spreadsheets.
Everything you need to see real profit
Every capability below is implemented in the module.
Unified Sales + POS Report
One combined, read-only report joins Sales order lines and POS order lines into a single profitability table — no data duplication, no manual reconciliation.
Discount- & Tax-Accurate Margin
Profit is computed from each line's net sales value (after discount, excluding tax) minus its recorded cost — not a naive price-minus-list calculation.
Line-Level Cost & Margin
See quantity, sales value, cost, profit, and margin percent for every individual order line across both channels.
Color-Coded Margin Indicators
List rows are automatically flagged red for losses, amber for low margin, and green for healthy margin, so weak performers stand out at a glance.
Configurable Low-Margin Threshold
Set your own margin percentage threshold in Settings; the report's searchable Low Margin filter updates instantly to match.
Guided Drill-Down Views
Purpose-built views answer the questions managers actually ask: Loss-Making Lines, By Category, By Customer, and POS Cashier & Session — no blank pivot to build.
Pivot, Graph, List & Search
Slice profitability by product, category, customer, salesperson, POS session, or date with full pivot, graph, list, and search view support.
POS Cashier & Session Breakdown
Group POS profitability by cashier and session to see which staff or shifts are discounting away margin.
Zero-Configuration Install
The Profitability menu and report appear immediately after install — no hidden settings to find before you see your first result.
How it works
Install the app
Add the module to a database with Sales and Point of Sale installed — the Profitability menu appears immediately, no setup required.
Sell through Sales or POS
Confirm sales orders and close POS sessions as usual — every line is automatically captured with its sales value and recorded cost.
Open the Profitability report
Review pivot, graph, or list views with color-coded margins, or jump straight to a guided view like Loss-Making Lines or By Category.
Tune the threshold and act
Adjust the low-margin threshold in Settings, filter for Low Margin rows, and follow up with the products, customers, or cashiers eroding profit.
See it in action
The Profitability report in pivot, graph, list, and guided drill-down views.
The default Overview report — a pivot table with rows by product and columns by channel (Sales vs POS), showing sales value, cost, margin, and margin percent.
Switch to the graph view to compare profit across products at a glance.
The list view shows every order line individually, color-coded red, amber, or green by margin percent.
The Loss-Making Lines view isolates every line where margin is negative, so problem SKUs surface immediately.
By Category groups profitability by product category to compare margin performance across your catalog.
By Customer groups profitability by customer, revealing which accounts are actually profitable after discounts.
POS Cashier & Session breaks down POS-only profitability by cashier and session.
Set your own low-margin threshold percentage in Settings — the Low Margin filter updates instantly across every view.
Frequently asked
Does this module cover Invoices or Purchases too?
Version 1 covers Sales orders and Point of Sale, the two channels most merchants need reconciled first. Cost is read directly from each line, so figures are accurate without extra configuration.
How is profit calculated?
Profit is each line's sales value net of discount and excluding tax, minus its recorded cost. Margin percent is profit divided by sales value, so discounts and taxes are always reflected — not a naive price-minus-list figure.
Can I choose what counts as a "low margin" row?
Yes. Set your own margin percentage threshold in Settings; the searchable Low Margin filter and the report's color coding both use it immediately.
Do I need to configure anything after installing?
No. The Profitability menu, the default report, and every guided view — Loss-Making Lines, By Category, By Customer, POS Cashier & Session — are available immediately after install.
