Scriptable tool for multi-format file import

(CSV, Excel, JSON, XML)

This module allows users to import data from multiple file formats.

Settings > Technical > Automation > Advanced Imports

How to use it

  1. Activate the deloper mode in order to access the Technical menu
  2. Find the Advanced Imports tool under Automation
  3. Find the Advanced Imports tool under Automation
  4. Select a file type (CSV, XLSX, JSON or XML)
  5. Upload a file
  6. Specify the separator in case of a CSV file
  7. Specify the name of the element where to find the data in case of JSON or XML files
  8. Select the destination model (es: Contacts (res.partner))
  9. Choose the import type, Synchronous or Asynchronous (separate thread)
  10. Write your own python code to transform the data (check for the available variables)
  11. The tool will try to find the right destination field. Check for it and select a different one if necessary
  12. Run the import. The synchronous mode will show the created records, while asynchronous will run the import in background
  13. Look at the Last Errors section under Other Info tab in case of errors.
