Group Components on the Bill of Materials

Open any Bill of Materials under Manufacturing > Products > Bills of Materials and use Add a section or Add a note next to Add a line. Headers like Comp. 1 and Comp. 2 sit between component rows, and a free-text note such as Etc. can sit below any group — keeping long parts lists tidy and easy to scan.

Sections & Notes on Operations

The same controls appear on the Operations tab of the BoM. Split a routing into logical stages — for example an Operation 1 header above the actual Assembly step — and leave a closing note line to guide the operator at the end of the stage.

Carried Through to the Manufacturing Order

Create a Manufacturing Order, pick the BoM, and every section and note arrives in the Components tab in the same order. The headers and note lines have no To Consume, Quantity or Consumed values — they are there purely to guide the person picking and consuming parts.

Sections & Notes Inside Work Orders

The Work Orders tab also receives the layout from the BoM. Stage headers and closing notes sit alongside the real Start and Block actions, so the operator always has the right context for the step in front of them.

Add or Reorder Lines on the MO Itself

Need a one-off instruction for a specific production run? Add a note directly on the order — for example an Operation End! reminder under the Assembly work order — or drag-and-drop any row by its handle to reorder, all without altering the underlying BoM.

Print Section-Aware Production Reports

A dedicated Production Order (Section & Note) PDF prints components grouped under their headers and work orders with their inline notes — so the document that reaches the workshop already reads as a structured checklist. A matching BoM Structure PDF is available from any Bill of Materials.
