Documents Extended User
Extend access control to Odoo document workspaces
Take full control of your Odoo Documents. Empower your organization by restricting confidential workspaces and sensitive files to specific User Groups or Individual Users without creating complex access rights rules.
Key Highlights
Workspace Security
Hide entire folders from unauthorized users. Perfect for HR, Finance, or Management departments.
Document Privacy
Restrict individual files (like contracts or salary slips) within a public folder.
Group Access
Leverage Odoo's existing User Groups to grant bulk access to teams or departments.
User Exceptions
Grant access to specific individuals (e.g., an external auditor) without changing group rules.
Real-World Scenario: HR Contracts
How to secure sensitive employee data?
- Step 1: Create a Workspace named "HR Contracts".
- Step 2: Set Visible To Groups to "HR / Officer". Now, only HR officers can see this folder.
- Step 3: The CEO needs access? Simply add the CEO to Visible To Users. No need to make them an HR Officer!
Configuration Guide
1. Folder Level
Navigate to Documents > Configuration > Workspaces.
Visible To GroupsVisible To Users
* Standard Odoo Access Rights still apply. A user must have basic "Internal User" rights to access the Documents app first.
2. Document Level
Open any file form view within Documents.
By default, documents inherit the visibility of their parent folder. Use the visibility fields on the document only if you want to override this behavior (e.g., make a specific file MORE restricted or accessible to EXTRA people).
