What does this module do?

When exporting records with related fields in Odoo, the standard XLSX export produces blank cells in the parent record columns whenever a record has multiple related rows. Export without blanks adds a single checkbox to the export wizard - Fill blank cells with main record data - that repeats the parent record values across every row, making the exported file ready to use in spreadsheets without any manual cleanup.

Cleaner spreadsheets

Parent record data is repeated on every related row, so pivot tables, filters, and VLOOKUP formulas work correctly out of the box.

How to export records without blank cells

Follow these steps to export an XLSX file with all blank cells filled.

  1. Select records and open the export wizard

    In any list view, select the records you want to export. Click Action > Export Records to open the standard Odoo export wizard.

  2. Check "Fill blank cells with main record data"

    In the export wizard, check the Fill blank cells with main record data checkbox. This option appears alongside the standard export format options. When checked, blank cells caused by one-to-many related fields will be filled with the corresponding parent record values.

  3. Export and review the result

    Click Export. The downloaded XLSX file will have all previously blank cells filled with the parent record data, with each related row showing the full context of its parent record.

Tip: this feature is most useful when exporting records with one-to-many related fields such as sale order lines, invoice lines, or stock move lines, where each parent record generates multiple rows in the export.

Configuration

This module requires no configuration after installation. The Fill blank cells with main record data checkbox is available immediately in the export wizard for all models and all users.

Ready to use out of the box. Install the module and the checkbox appears automatically in the Odoo export wizard. No settings to configure, no access rules to set up.
