POS Product Internal Reference
Display the internal product reference (SKU) in the POS product list, order summary, and printed receipts. Toggle receipt printing per POS session from the configuration panel.
What does this module do?
POS Product Internal Reference extends the Odoo Point of Sale interface to show the internal product reference (SKU / default code) wherever products appear: the product selection grid, the active order line summary, and the printed or digital receipt.
Cashiers can instantly identify products by their reference code without relying solely on product names, reducing picking errors in high-volume retail and warehouse environments.
Reference in product list
The internal reference appears below the product name in the POS product grid, visible at a glance before adding an item to the order.
Reference in order summary
Each order line in the cart displays the internal reference alongside the product name, making it easy to verify items during checkout.
Reference on receipts
The internal reference is printed on customer receipts, streamlining returns, exchanges, and after-sale support.
Configurable per POS
A dedicated toggle in the POS configuration lets you enable or disable the reference on receipts independently for each point of sale terminal.
Community and Enterprise
Compatible with Odoo Community, Enterprise, and Odoo.sh deployments. No additional dependencies beyond the core Point of Sale module.
Zero configuration required
Install and the reference appears immediately in the product list and order summary. The receipt toggle is optional and defaults to enabled.
Internal reference in the product list and order summary
The SKU is shown directly under each product name in the POS interface, as well as in the cart order lines.
Internal reference on receipts
Each line item on the printed or digital receipt includes the internal product reference for easy post-sale identification.
Using the module
After installation the module works automatically. Follow these steps to verify the feature and adjust the receipt setting.
-
Install the module
Go to Apps, search for POS Product Internal Reference, and click Install. No additional configuration is required for the product list and order summary display.
-
Open a POS session
Go to Point of Sale and open or start a session. Products in the grid now show their internal reference below the product name.
-
Add products and review the order summary
Add items to the order. The internal reference appears in each order line in the cart, allowing cashiers to double-check SKUs before payment.
-
Process payment and check the receipt
Complete the transaction. The printed or on-screen receipt includes the internal reference next to each product line.
-
Disable the reference on receipts (optional)
If you prefer not to show the reference on receipts, disable the toggle in the POS configuration. See the Configuration tab for details.
Configuration
The module requires no mandatory configuration. The product list and order summary display the internal reference automatically after installation. The only optional setting controls whether the reference appears on printed receipts.
Enable or disable the reference on receipts
Go to Point of Sale > Configuration > Settings, select the POS you want to configure, and look for the Show Internal Reference on Receipt toggle. Enable or disable it and click Save.
