Stock Location Priority
Assign a numeric priority to each warehouse location so Odoo always consumes stock from the highest-priority location first. Lower number means higher priority.
What does this module do?
Stock Location Priority adds a Priority field to each warehouse location. When Odoo needs to pick stock for an order, it selects the location with the lowest priority number first, giving you full control over the order in which storage areas are consumed.
Priorities can be set individually on the location form or updated in bulk directly from the locations list view using the Set Priority action. Access to edit priorities is protected by a dedicated security group.
Numeric priority per location
Assign any integer to a location. The lower the number, the higher the priority. Locations without a value are treated as lowest priority.
Controls stock consumption order
Odoo picks stock from the highest-priority location first, letting you define FIFO-by-location, zone preferences, or any custom consumption strategy.
Bulk priority update
Select multiple locations in the list view and use the Set Priority action to update all of them at once without opening each record.
Restricted editing
Only users with the Stock Location Priority permission can view or modify the Priority field, keeping warehouse configuration under control.
Community and Enterprise
Compatible with Odoo Community, Enterprise, and Odoo.sh. Depends only on the core Inventory module.
Minimal setup
Enable storage locations in Inventory settings, grant the security permission to the relevant users, and the Priority field is ready to use.
Priority field on the location form
The Priority field appears on every internal location form. Set a lower number to make a location preferred over others.
Priority in action
When stock is available in multiple locations, Odoo picks from the highest-priority one first.
Using location priorities
Follow these steps to assign priorities to your warehouse locations and verify they take effect during picking.
-
Enable storage locations
Go to Inventory > Configuration > Settings and enable Storage Locations under the Warehouse section. Save the settings. This step is required for the location list to be available.
-
Grant the permission to users
Go to Settings > Users & Companies > Users, open a user record, and enable Stock Location Priority under the Inventory permissions. Users without this permission cannot see or edit the Priority field.
-
Set the priority on a location
Go to Inventory > Configuration > Locations and open a location. Enter a value in the Priority field. A lower number gives the location higher priority. Save the record.
-
Bulk-update priorities from the list
In the locations list view, select one or more locations using the checkboxes, then click Set Priority in the action toolbar. Enter the new priority value and confirm to apply it to all selected locations at once.
-
Verify the priority during picking
Create a delivery or internal transfer that requires stock available in multiple locations. Odoo will reserve stock from the location with the lowest priority number first.
Configuration
Two settings are required before the module is fully operational: enabling storage locations in Inventory and granting the priority permission to users.
1. Enable Storage Locations
Go to Inventory > Configuration > Settings. Under the Warehouse section, enable Storage Locations and click Save. Without this setting the location configuration menu is not visible.
Inventory > Configuration > Settings > Warehouse -- Storage Locations
2. Grant the Stock Location Priority permission
Go to Settings > Users & Companies > Users. Open each user who needs to view or edit location priorities and enable the Stock Location Priority option under the Inventory section.
Settings > Users -- Stock Location Priority permission
