Product Slicing Orders (MRP + Scrap Automation)
for Odoo

Gain precise control over converting a single raw material (roll, sheet, slab, coil, bar) into multiple finished products. Plan slices by BoM and count, let Odoo auto-compute each item’s width/weight share, and create all Manufacturing Orders in one click. Built-in safeguards prevent over-allocation of width or weight, while leftover material is posted automatically as Scrap to your configured warehouse locations. With smart buttons to open linked MOs and scrap records, teams get faster planning, fewer spreadsheets, and clean, audit-ready inventory and production data.

All Features

Plan slicing from one screen: Pick a raw product, enter its width and weight, then add your intended finished products (via their BoMs) with counts. The module auto-computes each result’s weight share and overall consumed width.
Built-in safeguards: Live constraints prevent over-allocating width or weight beyond the raw material’s actual capacity.
One-click execution: When approved, the app creates MOs for each finished product quantity. If there’s leftover material, it creates a Stock Scrap entry to the configured scrap locations.
Full traceability: Every slicing order shows linked MOs and the generated scrap record for easy auditing.
Flexible configuration: Per-warehouse flags let you define where scrap comes from and where it goes, keeping inventory valuation consistent.

Product Slicing Orders (MRP + Scrap Automation)

Turn a single raw input into many finished SKUs—accurately, quickly, and with full traceability. Define the raw product’s width and weight, select finished items by BoM and quantity, and let the system allocate weights and consumed width automatically. With guardrails that block over-allocation, one-click Manufacturing Order creation, and automatic Scrap posting to your configured locations, production teams eliminate spreadsheets and guesswork while accounting stays perfectly aligned.

Slicing Scrap Configuration (Warehouse)

Enable As Slicing Scrap and choose the Source Location (stock it comes from) and Scrap Location (where leftovers are posted). This setup lets Product Slicing Orders automatically create accurate Scrap moves to the right locations—no manual transfers.

Define Raw Material Dimensions

Open the raw material product and set its Weight and Product Width on the Inventory tab. These values represent the available mass and cuttable width used by the Slicing Order to auto-allocate finished items and check over-allocation. Save the product before creating a Slicing Order.

Configure Finished Product & BoM

Open the finished-good product, enable the Manufacture route, and set its Weight and Product Width. Make sure this SKU has a valid Bill of Materials—the Slicing Order will use this BoM to auto-create MOs and allocate weight/width per item. Save the product before planning slices.

Configure Second Finished Product

Create the additional finished-good and enable the Manufacture route. Set its per-unit Weight and Product Width, and ensure it has its own BoM. The Slicing Order will use multiple finished SKUs (like FG-1 and FG-2) to allocate width/weight correctly and generate separate MOs for each.

Define Slicing BoM (Finished SKUs)

Create/verify the Bill of Materials that links your raw material to the finished SKUs you’ll produce (e.g., finish-good, finish-good-2). Add each finished item to the BoM so the Slicing Order can reference them and generate separate Manufacturing Orders per SKU. Save the BoM when all target products are listed.

Navigate to Product Slicing Order

From Manufacturing → Operations, open Product Slicing Order to plan a new cut. This is where you select the raw material, add finished SKUs, and let the system allocate width/weight before creating MOs and scrap.

Plan Finished Cuts & Review Scrap

Add the finished SKUs with their Width and Count. The Slicing Order auto-calculates each line’s Weight, totals the Overall Width, and shows the resulting Scrap Weight/Width. Adjust counts until totals fit the raw material. When everything looks correct, click Approve to lock the plan.

Approve Plan & Create MOs

Review the final widths, counts, and scrap totals. In the Approve stage the plan is locked—click Create MO to generate a separate Manufacturing Order for each finished SKU. The module will also create the Scrap move automatically based on your warehouse setup.

Review Generated MOs & Scrap

The order is now in MO Created. Use the smart buttons to open the created Manufacturing Orders (one per finished SKU) and the Scrap record. Proceed to plan/produce the MOs, or revisit counts if adjustments are needed.

Validate Scrap Posting

Review the auto-generated Scrap: confirm Quantity, Source Location, and Scrap Location, optionally set a Scrap Reason, then click Validate. This posts the leftover from the Product Slicing Order to the scrap location and updates inventory.

Scrap Posted (Done)

The scrap from this Slicing Order is now validated. Quantity has moved from the Source Location to Scrap Location, and the document is closed with a full audit trail (source document, date, company). Use Product Moves to review the underlying stock moves.

Review & Launch Manufacturing Orders

The Slicing Order generated separate MOs per finished SKU. Review quantities and status, then plan/confirm each MO to start production. Use this list to manage scheduling, component availability, and progress for every resulting job.

Review MO & Confirm Production

Open the generated Manufacturing Order and verify details: finished product, Quantity, BoM, component to Consume (raw material) and its Source Location. If everything matches the slicing plan, click Confirm to reserve components and start the production workflow.

Components Ready — Start Production

The MO is Confirmed and components show Available. Review the consumption line(s), then click Produce All (or Start) to begin production and record raw material consumption toward the finished quantity.

Complete MO — Consumption Posted

Production is Done. The finished quantity is produced and the raw material line shows as Consumed. Use the smart buttons (Traceability, Product Moves, Valuation) to review stock moves and cost impact, or proceed with the next MO from the slicing batch.

Complete Remaining Manufacturing Orders

From the MO list, track progress per SKU—one order is Done, the other is still Draft. Open the pending MO (e.g., finish-good-2), Confirm and Produce until all orders from this slicing batch are completed and totals reconcile.
