List View Merge Header
Group list view columns under one custom, renamable header
Merge several columns of any list (tree) view under a single, custom-named header â straight from the user interface, with no view editing or code. A two-row header is rendered: the group label spans its columns, with each field shown underneath.
Key features
- ✓ Inline header editor, opened from any list view.
- ✓ Drag fields into a column to group them, and rename each header.
- ✓ Drag a whole column group into another to combine them.
- ✓ Optionally center the header text, and resize a merged column by dragging.
- ✓ Works in embedded one2many / many2many list views too.
- ✓ The layout is global — shared by all users.
The header editor
Drag toggleable fields from the palette into columns, group them, rename them, then click Save. Nothing is applied until you save.
Where is the button?
The Edit header toggle is the columns icon in the list header, right next to the optional-columns (⚙) dropdown. Click it to enter or leave edit mode.
Optional: centered header text
Turn on Center header text in the editor to center every column header.
How it works
- Open any list view and click the columns icon next to the options menu to enter edit mode.
- Drag fields into a column to group them, rename the column, and arrange as needed.
- Click Save. The merged header is applied to the list for everyone.
Access & security
The header layout is global: every user sees the same merged headers. Editing is restricted to a dedicated security group.
- ▸ Group: Edit List View Header (Settings › Users › a user › Access Rights › Other).
- ▸ Members of that group can open the editor and save the shared layout.
- ▸ Everyone else simply sees the resulting headers — no edit toggle.
- ▸ The administrator is a member by default.
