Domain Blacklist Extension

Maximum Control Over Outgoing Emails: manaTec's New Blacklisting Module for Odoo

With our innovative blacklisting module, manaTec takes email management in Odoo to a new level.

Until now, blocking certain domains for outgoing emails was only possible through complex server-side configurations such as Postfix. Now you can use this function directly and conveniently in Odoo - without depending on external mail servers.

Your advantages at a glance:

  • Central control in Odoo: Manage blacklisting requests directly in the intuitive Odoo interface, without external systems or additional server adaptations.
  • More control and compliance: Ensure that unwanted emails are reliably blocked and reduce the risk of spam complaints.
  • Transparency for your company: All email filtering and blacklist rules are clearly documented in Odoo and easy to customize.
  • Independence from external mail servers: Save time and resources by managing your email communication entirely in your ERP system.

Step-by-step guide: Using the domain blacklist function in Odoo with the email marketing app

  • Create a blacklisted domain, a new mailing, and add recipients:
    • Step 1: Navigate to Settings > Technical > Email Blacklist and create a new blacklisted domain (e.g., @test.de).

Step 2: Go to Email Marketing > Mailing Lists > Mailing List Contacts and create a new mailing list contact.

    • Blacklist Settings
    • New Blacklist Contact
    • Step 3: Add, for example, john.smith@test.de as the email address for the contact.

Step 4: Assign the contact to a mailing list (for example, “Newsletter”) by selecting the appropriate list at the bottom of the contact form view.

    • Step 5: Save the mailing list contact. The email address john.smith@test.de will be automatically marked as “Blacklisted” because the domain @test.de has been added to the email blacklist.

    • Blacklisted Mailing Contact
  • Marketing Automation Failure Type
Create a new mailing and add recipients:
    • Step 1: Navigate to Email Marketing > Mailings and create a new mailing.
    • Step 2: Add the mailing list as a recipient for the campaign and select the mailing list that contains the blacklisted email address.
    Sending the mailing:
    • Step 1: Send the mailing to the selected recipient, which includes the mailing list containing one or more blacklisted addresses.
    • Step 2: A notification will appear at the top of the screen indicating that one or more addresses in the mailing list are being ignored.
    • Step 3: This prevents the email from being sent to any addresses marked with the "Blacklisted Address" failure type.
  • Create a new campaign and select a mailing list:
    • Step 1: Navigate to Marketing Automation and create a new campaign.
    • Step 2: Upon sending, the system will display the results:
      • Successes: Emails that were successfully delivered.
      • Subscribers ignored: Blacklisted addresses, such as john.smith@test.de, will be clearly marked.
    • Use the “Filter records” option to view the blacklisted address(es).
