Odoo reserves stock for the
wrong Manufacturing Orders
When multiple confirmed MOs compete for the same components, Odoo has no built-in mechanism to decide which one gets the stock first. A distant MO confirmed for November can block components needed for delivery tomorrow.
MO WH/MO/00015 scheduled for 01/11/2026 immediately locks 50 units of Comp A and Comp B. Urgent MOs due today or in 2 days show "Pas disponible" even though the stock is physically present — it's just blocked by a distant order.
Priority-based automatic
stock rebalancing
MRP Smart Reservation introduces a 3-tier priority engine that automatically assigns stock to the most urgent orders first. Every MO gets a color-coded status badge so operators instantly know what is reserved and why.
MOs WH/MO/00018 (Today), WH/MO/00017 (Dans 2 jours) and WH/MO/00016 (Dans 18 jours) are all marked Urgent and automatically reserved. The distant MO WH/MO/00015 (01/11/2026) stays Distant — it does not block any stock.
Urgent MOs are always
served first
Any MO scheduled within your configured horizon (default: 30 days) is classified as Urgent. It is automatically reserved in chronological order — soonest deadline first. Components show green "Disponible" immediately after confirmation.
Distant MOs never block stock —
unless you force it
MOs beyond your horizon are classified as Distant and are never reserved automatically. Their components remain available for urgent orders. But if you need to expedite one, a single click on ⚡ Force Reservation elevates it to top priority instantly.
Rebalance all reservations
in one click
The Rebalance Smart Reservations action is available directly from the MO list. Select all MOs and trigger a full rebalancing — the module unreserves everything and redistributes stock according to the priority rules. A notification confirms the result instantly.
Set your horizon in seconds
Go to Manufacturing → Configuration → Settings and find the Smart Reservation section. Enter the number of days that defines your horizon. MOs beyond this window are Distant. MOs within it are Urgent. That's the only setting you need.

After Smart Reservation runs, the stock forecast shows the exact picture: urgent MOs are reserved in order, distant MOs wait. No more stock surprises on the factory floor.
Three-tier priority engine
Every confirmed MO is classified automatically at each rebalancing cycle.
Manually Forced
Any MO manually elevated via the Force Reservation button. Reserved first, regardless of date. Stays forced until you cancel it.
Within Horizon
MOs scheduled within your configured horizon. Reserved automatically in chronological order — soonest deadline first.
Beyond Horizon
MOs scheduled far in the future. Never reserved automatically. Stock stays free for urgent needs. Can be forced manually at any time.

Visible only on Distant MOs. One click elevates any MO to top priority and triggers instant global rebalancing.
Auto-Rebalancing on Confirmation
Every time a new MO is confirmed, the rebalancing engine runs automatically. Stock is always correctly distributed without manual action.
Daily Cron Job
Runs every night at 1 AM. Guarantees correct stock distribution every morning when operators arrive at the factory floor.
Visual Status Badges
Color-coded badges on every MO — green for Urgent, orange for Distant, red for Forced. Visible on both list and form views.
Manual Rebalance Action
Available from the Action menu on the MO list. Rebalances all reservations and shows a summary notification with full statistics.
