User guide

Install the module, then pick the menus or reports to hide from any user or any group. Changes take effect right away.

1. Install the module

  1. Open Apps, remove the Apps filter, and search Hide Any Menu, Any Report.
  2. Click Install. The module depends only on standard base.

2. Hide a menu from a single user

  1. Go to Settings > Users and Companies > Users.
  2. Open the user you want to restrict.
  3. Open the Hide Specific Menu tab.
  4. Pick the menus you want to hide for this user.
  5. Click Save. The user will no longer see those menus after a page refresh.

3. Hide a menu from a whole group

  1. Go to Settings > Users and Companies > Groups.
  2. Open the group you want to restrict.
  3. Open the Menu To Hide tab.
  4. Pick the menus you want to hide for everyone in this group.
  5. Click Save.

4. Hide a report from a user or group

  1. Open the user form or the group form.
  2. Open the Hide Specific Report tab on a user, or the Report To Hide tab on a group.
  3. Pick the reports to hide.
  4. Click Save.

5. Configure from the menu or report side

  • Go to Settings > Technical > User Interface > Menu Items, open a menu, and use the Hide From Users and Hide From Groups tabs.
  • Go to Settings > Technical > Actions > Reports, open a report, and use the Hide From Users and Hide From Groups tabs.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Will the Administrator be affected?
No. The Administrator (super user) is always exempted from every hide rule. This is intentional so you can never accidentally lock yourself out of any menu or report.
2. Do I need to restart Odoo after a change?
No. Changes take effect right away. The user only needs to refresh their browser to see the updated menu and report set.
3. What happens to the sub-menus when I hide a parent menu?
Hiding a parent menu also hides its sub-menus that depend on it, so you do not have to pick each child manually.
4. What if a user belongs to several groups?
Hidden menus from any of those groups will be hidden for the user. The most restrictive set across the groups applies.
5. Can I configure restrictions from the menu side instead of the user side?
Yes. Open any menu item under Technical settings and use the Hide From Users and Hide From Groups tabs. The same is available on each report.
6. Are there any third-party dependencies?
No. The module depends only on the standard base module shipped with Odoo, so it works on Community and Enterprise out of the box.
7. Is it compatible with Odoo 19?
Yes. This module targets Odoo 19 and works on both Community and Enterprise editions.
