Key Features
Expiration dates and automatic cleanup for purchase RFQs
Expiration on RFQs
Adds an Expiration date on requests for quotation so everyone sees the last day the RFQ stays active.
Starts empty by default
New RFQs start with a blank Expiration until a buyer enters a date on the document.
Optional per document
Leave Expiration empty when you do not want a deadline; only RFQs with a date are considered for automatic cancellation.
Edit while negotiating
Buyers adjust Expiration on the RFQ form whenever timelines change, up until the order is confirmed or cancelled.
Automatic cancellation
Once a day, open RFQs whose Expiration is before today are moved to Cancelled, similar to letting old quotations lapse.
Note in the chatter
When Odoo closes an RFQ automatically, an internal note explains that the validity date passed so the history stays clear for the team.
Right document states
Applies to RFQs in Draft, RFQ Sent, or To Approve. Confirmed purchase orders are not affected.
Same rules as manual cancel
Locked orders and other cases where Odoo normally blocks cancellation are skipped so behaviour stays predictable for buyers.
Standard Odoo Purchase
Extends standard purchase orders with a practical validity workflow your procurement team can adopt step by step.

User guide â Purchase RFQ Validity & Auto-Cancel
Install the module, set Expiration on RFQs when you want a deadline, and let Odoo cancel outdated open requests once per day.
1. Install the module
- Open Apps, remove the Apps filter, and search Purchase RFQ Validity & Auto-Cancel.
- Click Install. The standard Purchase app must already be available.
2. Work on the RFQ
- Create or open a request for quotation under Purchase.
- Set Expiration to the last day the offer should stay open. It sits next to the usual order deadline fields while the document is still a quotation.
- Send or confirm the RFQ using your normal Purchase workflow.
3. Automatic cancellation
Odoo runs a daily check. RFQs that are still in Draft, RFQ Sent, or To Approve, have an expiration date filled in, and that date is before today, are set to Cancelled. The validity day itself still counts as active, like a sales quotation.
Each automatically closed RFQ receives a short internal note in the chatter with the expiration date so your team understands what happened.
4. Extend a negotiation
If vendors need more time, open the RFQ while it is still active and move Expiration to a later day before the previous date has passed. Confirmed purchase orders are outside this flow and are not cancelled by this feature.
5. List view
On purchase order list views you can show the Expiration column when you need to scan open RFQs at a glance.
