Installation & Setup

  1. Install the module: Go to Apps -> Search for "Stock Reservation on Sales Flow" -> Click Install
  2. Grant access: Navigate to Settings -> Users & Companies -> Grant "Stock Reservation / User" access to warehouse and sales teams

Basic Usage

  1. Open a quotation in draft or sent state and click the "Reserve Stock" button
  2. In the wizard, review each line: ordered qty, on-hand qty, and forecasted availability
  3. Adjust the quantity to reserve and click Confirm to create the reservation
  4. View reservation history via the smart button on the sale order form
  5. To release stock, open the reservation record and click Unreserve

  • Use the pivot and chart views under Inventory -> Reporting -> Stock Reservations to analyze reservation trends by product, customer, or warehouse
  • Enable the source location override in multi-warehouse setups to reserve from a specific warehouse

Important Notes

Reservations create draft stock moves that hold inventory. Confirmed sales orders will consume the reserved stock automatically. Ensure your warehouse team understands the reservation workflow to avoid confusion with physical picking.

Q: Does this module reserve physical inventory or just mark it?

A: It creates draft stock moves from the product source location to a virtual "Reserved Stock" location. This holds the inventory in Odoo so other processes see it as unavailable. When the sale order is confirmed, the reserved stock is consumed by the delivery.

Q: Can I unreserve stock if a customer changes their mind?

A: Yes. Open the reservation record and click Unreserve. The draft stock moves are cancelled and quantities are released back to available stock. The reservation history is preserved for audit purposes.
