Frequently Asked Questions
You need an API key from at least one provider (OpenAI, Anthropic, or any OpenAI-compatible service). The module itself does not include AI credits — you bring your own key and pay the provider directly for usage.
Yes. Any endpoint that speaks the OpenAI /v1/chat/completions protocol works. This includes Ollama, LM Studio, vLLM, LocalAI, and llama.cpp server. Set the provider to "Custom" and enter your local URL.
The module sends record field values and recent chatter messages to your configured AI provider for processing. If data privacy is a concern, use a self-hosted LLM — no data leaves your network.
Every model that has a chatter (mail.thread mixin): Contacts, CRM Leads, Sales Orders, Purchase Orders, Invoices, Helpdesk Tickets, Employees, Projects, Tasks, Manufacturing Orders, and any custom model with a chatter.
Yes. Set a Daily Limit per User (e.g. 20 calls/day) in Settings to control costs. You can also restrict which models show the AI button using the Allowed Models setting and per-model rules.
