POS Assign Orders Between Sessions
This Odoo POS module adds the ability to assign orders between POS sessions that are currently open. The aim is to provide flexibility to sellers to transfer or assign orders from one POS session to another, especially useful in environments where multiple sessions are active. This feature allows for better management of orders across different POS points, potentially enhancing workflow in busy retail setups or in cases where multiple employees handle sales.
Gaps Filled by the Module
Flexibility in Order Management: In standard Odoo POS, an order is tied to a session and cannot be easily moved. This module fills the gap by allowing orders to be transferred between open sessions, thus improving operational flexibility in retail settings.
Improved Multi-session Operations: Ideal for businesses where multiple cashiers or salespeople might handle the same order at different times or across different POS terminals.
Use Case
Multi-Session Management: In a large store where multiple cashiers or staff members are handling sales/orders simultaneously, this module allows one cashier to transfer a partially completed order to another session. This is particularly useful when shifts change or when the customer moves to another checkout counter for final payment. For example: A customer starts an order at the POS in one department but finishes the transaction at another POS station. The order can be easily transferred between these sessions.
How to Use the Module
- Go to the POS Configuration (under Point of Sale > Configuration > Settings).
- Enable the "Assign Orders between Session" option.
- Using in POS Interface: When logged into a POS session, after adding items to an order, click the "Assign Order" button.
- A popup will appear with a list of available open sessions.
- Select the session to which the order should be assigned.
- The order will be transferred to the selected session and removed from the current session.
- Error Handling: If there are no other open sessions available, an error message will be displayed indicating that no sessions are available for assignment.
Features
- Assign Orders between Sessions: Sellers can assign orders from one POS session to another.
- A popup allows selecting the session to which the order should be assigned.
- Provides user validation if no sessions are available for assignment.
