Features

Available on Community and Enterprise
Generate Consignor Bills

Generate consignor bills with the click of a button.

Reports

View value and stock reports on consignment stock.

Please read the official documentation on consignment before proceeding.

Setup

Enable Consignment

Enable automated valuation method on the categories that will contain consigned items

Make sure the customer location where delivery is done has "customer location" location type selected

Sample Use Case

Navigate to consignment purchase in the purchase module. This is where all consignment purchases are and can be created from

Create a PO for the consignor at the agreed price of the item. Receive the item into your inventory as consignment stock from the same vendor

Sell some items and process the delivery

After sale/delivery of some items, we generate the bills for the PO by navigating to accounting app and clicking Generate Consignment Bills

Using the quantity sold, as opposed to quantity determined by the invoicing policy, bills for purchases are created starting with the oldest PO awaiting bill(In this case, just one PO). The agreed price(price on the PO) is what will be used on the bill

Also, subsequent sale of this vendor's items will populate this bill as long as it is in draft state. To stop populating this bill and start on a new bill in the next run, the bill will have to be confirmed. This is logical if for example the business does monthly payouts to consignors.

Note: You can always delete the bill and regenerate. The operation is Idempotent. The end result is the same no matter how many times you click it

Navigate to bills in accounting and apply the filter Consignment to view the consignment invoices. You may also navigate through the consignor's PO to view this bill

Reports

The consignment report in purchase module enables you to have an overview of all consignment purchases and view what was supplied, what has been billed and what is owed by quantity and monetary value for each vendor. This report can be exported to excel as needed

The Consigned Stock report in inventory module enables you to view current quantity of consigned items you have

From Consigned Stock Moves report in inventory module, we can see the movement of consigned items through our warehouse

Other Setup and Options

Force Unassigned Bill Creation

By default, bills for consignment stock sales are created only if the system can find a purchase item awaiting billing. If we enable this flag, we create the bill for the sale regardless.

However, the unit price used on the bill will be from the product form since we have no reference purchase.

This option is particularly useful if you do not typically receive consignment from a PO
