Website Sale Down Payment
Configurable down payment option at checkout for your Odoo 17 eCommerce store
Let Your Customers Pay a Deposit at Checkout
Website Sale Down Payment adds a configurable down payment (deposit) option to the Odoo 17 eCommerce checkout page. Customers can choose to pay a percentage of the order total instead of the full amount. Define the allowed percentages from the backend settings, optionally disable full payment, and let the system handle the rest — from transaction creation to order confirmation and portal display.
Live Preview
See the down payment flow in action — from checkout to confirmation.
• The amount and remaining balance update instantly as the customer picks a percentage.
Key Highlights
• Flexible Percentages
Define any combination of allowed down payment percentages (e.g. 25%, 50%, 75%). Customers pick the one that suits them best at checkout.
• One-Click Activation
Enable or disable the down payment feature from Website Settings with a single checkbox. No code changes or technical knowledge required.
• Mandatory Mode
Optionally disable full payment so customers must pay a down payment. Perfect for high-value products or custom orders requiring deposits.
• Real-Time Calculation
The down payment amount and remaining balance are calculated and displayed instantly as the customer selects a percentage — no page reload needed.
• Sale Order Integration
Down payment details (percentage, amount, remaining) are stored on the sale order and visible in the backend, portal, and order confirmation page.
• Native Payment Flow
Seamlessly integrates with Odoo's native payment providers. The transaction is created with the down payment amount while keeping full validation intact.
How to Use
Set up down payments on your eCommerce store in just a few steps.
• Access Website Settings
Go to Settings > Website to access the eCommerce configuration. The down payment options are located in the eCommerce section.
• Enable Down Payment
Check the Down Payment checkbox to activate the feature. This will display the down payment option to customers at checkout.
• Browse the Shop
Navigate to the website shop. Your customers will see the product catalog as usual.
• Add a Product to Cart
Select a product and click Add to Cart. The standard shopping experience remains unchanged.
• Go to Cart & Checkout
Review the cart and proceed to Checkout to begin the payment process.
• Enter Shipping Address
Fill in or confirm the delivery address and click Confirm to proceed to the payment page.
• See the Down Payment Option
On the payment page, a new Payment Mode section appears in the order summary. The customer can choose between Full payment and Down payment.
• Choose the Percentage
Select Down payment and pick a percentage (e.g. 25%, 50%, 75%). The down payment amount and remaining balance are displayed instantly.
• Order Confirmation
After payment, the confirmation page shows a clear summary of the down payment percentage, amount paid, and remaining balance.
• Backend Sale Order View
In the backend, the sale order displays the down payment percentage, amount, and remaining balance. The payment transaction and chatter log all details for full traceability.
Configuration Options
• Enable / Disable
A single checkbox in Settings > Website > eCommerce controls whether the down payment option is shown at checkout. Disabled by default.
• Allowed Percentages
Enter a comma-separated list of integers between 1 and 99 (e.g. 25,50,75). These become the selectable buttons on the checkout page.
• Disactivate Full Payment
When enabled, the "Full payment" radio button is hidden and customers must pay a down payment. The first allowed percentage is applied automatically.
• Native Odoo Integration
The module syncs with Odoo's native prepayment_percent field on the sale order, ensuring compatibility with invoicing and accounting workflows.
