Warehouse Tax
Automatically apply warehouse-level taxes to taxable partners & products
Overview
Different warehouses often operate under different tax jurisdictions or special tax regimes. Managing these taxes manually on every sale order or vendor bill is error-prone and time-consuming. Warehouse Tax solves this by letting you attach a default tax directly to each warehouse and flagging which partners and products should be affected.
Once configured, the correct tax is applied automatically the moment a qualifying line is added to a sale order or invoice â and a convenient Recompute Tax button lets you refresh existing records in one click.
Key Features
Warehouse-Level Tax
Assign a single default tax to each warehouse. It is applied automatically across all qualifying transactions originating from that location.
Taxable Partner Flag
Mark any customer or vendor as taxable on their contact form. Tax is applied only when the partner is flagged â giving you full control per customer.
Taxable Product Flag
Mark individual products as taxable on the product form. Tax is only computed on lines whose product is explicitly flagged â exempt items stay untouched.
Recompute Tax Button
A one-click Recompute Tax button on confirmed sale orders and posted invoices lets you re-apply the warehouse tax after configuration changes â no manual line editing required.
How It Works
| Warehouse tax set? | Partner taxable? | Product taxable? | Result |
|---|---|---|---|
| ✓ Yes | ✓ Yes | ✓ Yes | Warehouse tax applied to the line |
| ✓ Yes | ✗ No | ✓ Yes | No change â partner not taxable |
| ✓ Yes | ✓ Yes | ✗ No | No change â product not taxable |
| ✗ No | ✓ Yes | ✓ Yes | No change â no warehouse tax defined |
Configuration Steps
Set warehouse tax
Go to Inventory â Configuration â Warehouses, open a warehouse, navigate to the Technical Info tab, and select a tax in the new Tax field.
Flag taxable partners
Open a customer or vendor record, scroll to the Sales & Purchase tab, and tick Is Taxable.
Flag taxable products
Open any product, go to the General Information tab, and tick Is Taxable. New orders will pick up the tax automatically.
