Stock Lot Expiry Alert & FEFO Enforcer
Monitor lot expiry dates in real time, send pre-expiry alerts automatically, enforce First Expired First Out on picks, and quarantine expired stock in one click.
The Challenge
Why organizations need Stock Lot Expiry Alert & FEFO Enforcer
Without active monitoring, expired lots remain in available stock. Pickers select them — not because they're careless, but because Odoo doesn't warn them.
Someone is responsible for checking expiry dates manually — weekly or monthly. Between checks, product passes its expiry date and continues to be picked.
Standard Odoo supports FIFO (First In, First Out) but not FEFO (First Expired, First Out). For perishables and pharmaceuticals, expiry-based rotation is mandatory.
What Stock Lot Expiry Alert & FEFO Enforcer Does
Six capabilities built specifically for this problem
Pre-Expiry Alert Rules
Configure rules per product category: warn X days before expiry, block Y days before. Email alerts fire automatically to designated stakeholders.
Live Expiry Status on Lots
Each stock.lot shows a real-time expiry_alert_state: OK (green), Warning (orange), Critical (red), or Expired (gray). Visible at a glance on the lot list.
FEFO Pick Enforcement
On pick validation, the system checks that selected lots are not past expiry. Expired lots are flagged and operators are prompted to select a fresher lot.
One-Click Quarantine
An action on expired or near-expired lots moves stock to a designated quarantine location instantly — removing it from available inventory without manual transfers.
Daily Cron Monitoring
A scheduled job runs daily, scanning all lots against their expiry rules. Email digest alerts are sent automatically — no manual monitoring required.
Expiry Dashboard
A dashboard view shows all lots by expiry status — allowing QA managers to see exactly what's at risk without running a report.
How It Works
Operational in minutes — not weeks
Configure Expiry Rules
Go to Inventory → Configuration → Expiry Rules. Create rules per product category with warn days, block days, and alert email recipients.
Monitor Automatically
The daily cron scans all tracked lots. As lots approach expiry thresholds, their status updates and email alerts fire to the configured contacts.
Act on Alerts
QA managers review the expiry dashboard. Quarantine expired lots with one click. On picks, operators are guided to FEFO-compliant lot selection automatically.
Perfect For
Industries and organizations that rely on Stock Lot Expiry Alert & FEFO Enforcer
Food Distribution
Distributors handling perishable food products need FEFO-enforced picking and pre-expiry alerts to prevent expired goods from reaching consumers.
Pharmaceutical Wholesale
Pharmaceutical distributors face regulatory requirements for lot tracking and expiry management. Automated alerts and quarantine ensure compliance.
Consumer Goods & Cosmetics
Personal care and cosmetic products with shelf-life requirements need systematic expiry monitoring to protect brand reputation and consumer safety.
