Odoo 18 Chatter File Preview (Enterprise)

Preview CSV, DOC, DOCX, Excel (XLS/XLSX) and PPT/PPTX files directly from the chatter in a responsive modal – without downloading them. Keep the native PDF/image preview and extend it with rich previews for office and data files.

Note: This module is developed and tested on Odoo 18 Enterprise (Discuss/Mail). We support Ubuntu/Linux deployments.

Key Features

  • Preview CSV, DOC, DOCX, XLS/XLSX and PPT/PPTX files directly from chatter.
  • Opens a clean full-width modal popup with the file content (no download required).
  • Works on any model that uses Odoo chatter (Invoices, Purchase Orders, Sales Orders, etc.).
  • No extra buttons: simply click the attachment in chatter to open the preview.

How It Works

  • Attach a CSV, DOC/DOCX, XLS/XLSX or PPT/PPTX file in the chatter.


  • Click on the attachment in chatter – instead of downloading, a preview modal opens.
